Breakfast was a mess. Wrong order 2x, took over 20 mins to get food to the table following this, no bread to toast at the counter. Slow and poor service. No plates or bowls despite asking.

The room was nice with a comfortable bed. Light and airy with a balcony too. Bathroom was smaller but perfect for a few nights stay.

Only issue was having to use the main exit to reach my room in the cottage annexe after 10.30 PM

The bed was exceptionally comfortable, breakfast was good as was dinner but the bar service could have been better.

    Comfortable, old school hotel
    • Business trip

    • Large Double Room

Bathroom fittings a little tired and slightly eccentric plumbing (hot water close to boiling!) Stairs through a rabbit warren of corridors to access second floor rooms.

The County is looking a little tired by modern standards, but it has maintained professional, old school quality service throughout the hotel, is spotlessly clean and well maintained. There is a lift to the first floor, but access to the second floor is by stairs only. Rooms are well equipped and there is fast, complimentary wi-fi access, good enough to stream TV. Large, comfortable bed though the shower (on the second floor room) needed a little coaxing seemingly low on pressure at times of demand. On site car park, although chargeable, very welcomed in such close proximity to the town centre. Excellent restaurant and great breakfast. Staff extremely welcoming, courteous and helpful.

We had Room 28 which was directly above the side entrance to the reception and above the restaurant. There were flood lights on the conservatory, patio area below from dark and all through the night. The curtains in room 28 were not sufficient to filter out that light and perhaps better black out blinds need installing. Otherwise our sleep was fine.

Our second visit in a month. Most things as good as the first stay. Just one criticism which I'll put below.

Some of the elements of the cooked breakfast were cold (bacon, beans) on the first day, but the eggs royal on day 2 were very good.

The room was spacious and comfortable. THere was however, the constant sound of running water, possibly drainage from the room above.

No air con and room was very warm. Couldn't open the window as it's a noisy location. Seemed a little expensive for what it was.

Clean room, nice staff and good facilities.

Could not use the bar as it was full of Masons after one of their meetings. Also for a 4 star hotel no toiletries were provided. For a 4 star hotel these should be provided.

Nice hotel. Great staff and food was very good. The room was very clean and comfortable. Good night's sleep.

Rooms were a little hot, but the windows opened fine so we could get some air into it - better to be too warm than too cold!

I had booked a Double Room. It was clean with reasonable refreshments provided. We had room service - the burger was fantastic! Breakfast was really good also.

The bed was uncomfortable, and the room was too warm, even with windows open. You can hear other rooms and outside the room. Car park was expensive as £9 per day, and we were overnight guests. However, parking is on site.

The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. Room was very clean. It was nice we got an free upgraded room upon arrival.

The decor is quite outdated, the floors creaked tremendously and one side of my mattress was a bit sunken. I also think this place can afford to include breakfast as complementary for all bookings.

The room was nice and spacious, very easy to cast to the TV, shower was great and staff were friendly enough.

I arrived just before 10pm after a long drive and greeted by a friendly receptionist who informed me that my room had been upgraded...a really lovely surprise after a late journey. Room was nice and the bed was pretty comfortable. Had an early morning meeting so didn't get the opportunity to try the breakfast but will do next time.

Had to pay £9 to park. Room way too hot. No way to turn the heat down. Receptionist when we booked in loudly announced that we’d booked a ‘budget’ room. I don’t consider £90 to be a budget room.

    Convenient location.

The rooms did feel a little mothballed and the breakfast while food was on the steep side price wise. However, was still overall a positive experience,

Good facilities and central location - easy to access local enmities and plenty of eating options outside the hotel in easy reach. The parking is good although it does cost but the car park is copious enough to cope with many guests. Decor fine although outside looks a little tired.

The cost of the room and how small it was. When we went into our room there was a few fruit. Flies flying around. We also had to pay £9 to park which is ridiculous considering we had paid £170 to stay. We stayed last year and didn’t pay for parking! I think it’s disgusting.

That is was close to town.

Had an issue with hot water that I believe is/was temporary but it would have been useful to know ahead of trying to use the shower that it can takes up to 10 minutes to warm up as I ended up not having a proper shower.

Room was clean and to a good standard. Bar and longe area comfortable and reasonalbly priced. Staff listened attentively when I raised issue with hot water and said they'd follow up.
