The view was everything!! We paid a little extra for the room with a view and was not disappointed with the huge windows overlooking the countryside. The restaurant is definitely worth a visit for fine dining and every course was faultless.

What a last minute find on the way to Wales, arrived late but room service and kindness of the staff was fantastic.

Original room (10) had loose double glazed windows meaning every word spoken and car movement outside could be heard very clearly when inside. Also toilet cistern making constant hissing sound. When mentioned to staff we were immediately moved to Rm 21 which was delightful - love the gramaphone! Breakfast was outstanding both food and staff.

It was abit cold in the room and little dusty but nothing too bothering.

The customer service was great! I also didn't know that breakfast was included and this was an amazing bonus! Fresh food and drink in the morning accompanied by a great host. The view was beautiful, I strongly recommend this place.

Apparently part of a bigger chain of smart hotels, but we noticed a couple of small points we thought let it down. At our early breakfast our chairs had crumbs on the fabric seat, and there were crumbs and seeds on the floor around our table, apparently from the pervious evening dinner. In our room two light bulbs were not working, and the TV that should have multiple channels had a very poor signal, in the evening and in the morning, so we struggled to find a working channel or watch BBC news. Little points, but overall we were happy with our stay.

Great location, nice old style building with a smart interior, and good views as its high on the hills. Our room was at the front of the main building so we had a great morning view when the sun came up over the countryside below. The staff were friendly and professional and there is a nice bar area for an evening drink. We didn't have the evening meal but the restaurant seemed popular. Our room was good, clean, had a nice bathroom and shower and comfortable bed. The thick curtains kept the room dark even when the sun came up, which I liked. We would stay here again.

Prior to arrival 2 telephone calls asking if we wanted to book the restaurant. On arrival being asked again. Hard sell off putting. Had to book a time slot for breakfast even though very few guests. We don't want to clock watch or micro manage a break when the whole idea is to relax. Food disappointing in view of the website hype. Bar had only one draught beer option.

Unfortunately whilst the meal, in the restaurant, was wonderful and beautifully cooked, the service, that evening, was not and it spoilt the whole experience. Waiting half an hour for your empty main course plates to be removed was not good. We walked into the restaurant with anticipation and left disheartened.

Very impressed with the property. Our room, which had an excellent view, was spacious, tastefully decorated, well presented and very comfortable. The reception staff and especially the barman, were very friendly and helpful.
