My friends poor room soured our weekend

My friends room which I booked had a TV that was next to useless and the shower was a dribble with a badly rusted plug hole. I felt bad as my room was great. They could not shower which for a room that cost £130 was an absolute disgrace! Really not happy as I tried to call De Vere Cotswold Water Park Hotel to complain … no reply.

    Lovely location, clean nice lounge

It is overpriced. There’s no conditioner or hair dryer. The shampoo and shower gel are the same product. I just expected more from an hotel like this.

It’s a nice hotel, the view on the lake is amazing and the spa is great.

The same old boring bar menu. PLEASE ADD SOME MORE THINGS TO EAT. Bring back the steak. I can’t handle eating microwave tikka masala anymore.

I love the De vere. I’m a regular here due to work commitments

Bar snacks were expensive as £20 for a burger.

Our room was in a pair with an outer door to them both, unfortunately it was continually slammed by the guests next door. Would be better with that door removed. We ordered a pizza in the bar, very quiet time, waited over an hour and 15 mins, only food that came out before ours was some nachos (1 minute beforehand). Assume chef was on his break but we were not told. Much smaller balcony that our first stay here, in general room wasn't as good as the one we had in main building.

Lovely views over the lake. Food was nice....when it came. Staff were polite. Lots of parking, except on Saturday. Fridge in room.

It is a large busy hotel with what seemed to be lots of conferences and people working on laptops everywhere in the public areas. It is not for those who want a quiet place but that said once away from the public areas it was absolutely fine.

The room was great and had a balcony overlooking the lake. Had the weather been better this would have been a lovely feature. Also there were walks around the property which are a must to explore.

Spa/pool was busy even though we had booked a time and would have been improved with having a jacuzzi.

Beautiful, large hotel right on the lake. Room had a gorgeous view and the bed was very comfortable! Gym was excellent, felt brand new and really well maintained with good equipment. Breakfast was delicious with lots of choice.

Generally comfortable and relaxed. Provides well for adults, children and dogs across four rooms. No complaints.

Breakfast excellent choice and quantity. Room good view, provided child beds promptly on request and dog beds. Dinner expensive and limited vegetarian options. Buffet style would work well in boathouse. Bar area and options excellent and sociable.

Beware of being locked out on the deck of ground floor rooms. We had to go and get another key card twice and reception staff weren't the most helpful about it. Brilliant facilities for the dog too.

There was no warm oat/lactose-free milk option, so I had to drink a cold cappuccino, this could be improved in the future. We were surprised to know at the check-in that the pool is only available if you pre-book a spa session. You can only use the pool for 1 hour after your spa session ends. I was hoping to use it to relax after the whole day travelling, but as we arrived after dinner, we didn't even have the chance to use the pool, so, keep that in mind if you want to use it.

Super comfortable bed, great bed linen, charming and beautiful location, the breakfast had many options, and we were happy with the complimentary Penhaligon's toiletries. We went there during a colder month to rest after visiting Cotswolds villages, but we thought it would be great to go back to stay only at the property to relax enjoying the lake and the hiking trails.
