Although the room was clean and comfortable, the decor and furniture were a little tired and would benefit from a bit of updating. Public areas were better presented.

View over the river was excellent. Location was good for access to town. The weather was awful which slightly spoiled the plan for quayside meal and drinks but great alternative found.

I didn't like the fact that on the day of departure, there was a marathon going on in the city and our exit road from the hotel was closed! We had to wait a good half hour before we could get out. The hotel really should have made us aware of this.

Loved the location, the staff were great, bar and food were very nice. Decor a little dull, but we were comfortable.

The fridge was noisy at night - but as there was nothing in it we simply turned it off at the wall. We could hear the trains, but they didn't keep us awake.

Good size room, clean. Staff very friendly and attentive to our requests. Great location close to the train station, and lovely views over the river!

Not much to be honest, would stay here again.

Hotel location was very good and allowed great access into the centre. Room was large comfortable and spacious, the bed was large and comfortable also. Additionally the room had an iron, iron board and safe which help when living from a suitcase.

Breakfast was average. Bacon that was very tough - I like crispy bacon but this was a struggle to cut. No eggs apart from scrambled, no signs to tell you where dining room was. Generally food seemed to have sat there from very early (we went for breakfast at 9) and suffered due to not being fresh. Cleaners had missed a blueberry from the previous occupants on the floor, otherwise room was very clean. Window handles are missing some bolts.

Good sized room, large bed, location. Would probably stay again but avoid breakfast, see below. Plenty of places nearby where a good fresh breakfast can be had.

The 100+ steps we had to climb to get up to the city centre. But there is a more roundabout route avoiding the steps via quayside. Was to be expected really , Newcastle is hilly.

Room was spacious and actually had TWO armchairs and a small table overlooking the river for relaxing. (Most hotels have 1 chair if you are lucky so one of you has to lounge on the bed). View over river was lovely. Bed mattress probably soft-medium. Wife slept very well, but a bit too soft me. Room was quiet and on high floor (4) as requested. Some noise from 2 railway bridges over river which we thought might keep us awake at night (wife is a light sleeper) but didn't. Car park was convenient with in and out access included for £10 a day. Breakfast buffet was good. GF bread available. Checkout time of 12 noon on a Sunday gives plenty of time to visit the Quayside market - a short stroll along the riverside.

There is not anything that we can mention with regards to the Hotel that we did not like. We were comfortable and satisfied with everything.

We were met by a very helpful, kind and friendly member of staff (Paul) who greeted us and helped us with car parking and checking in. The staff were friendly and helpful to make our stay a pleasant one.

Even though we went down for breakfast just before 7:45am (started at 7:30am), had to wait for eggs, bacon & pancake machine not working for the kids.

I liked that it is right by the River and a short walk into the town centre.

My only criticism is the tea and coffee supply. I paid for a double room for 2 days/nights. But even for one d/n. 2 coffee sachets. 2 tea bags. 4 milk. 6 sugars. And 1 pkt of broken biscuits was very mean. With a view so beautiful. It would have been lovely to be able to make as many cuppas as I’d have liked. And sit watching the world go by, without having to go to reception and ask for more sachets. I’d rather pay an extra fiver on my bill than embarrass myself by asking for more. But on the whole. It was one of the nicest hotels I’ve stayed in. Thanks Copthorne

Beautiful views of river Tyne, bridges and area. The rooms are very clean with good quality pillows, bedding, towels etc. The quality of the products in the bathroom are really good.. But on the whole. It was one of the nicest hotels I’ve stayed in. Thanks Copthorne
