Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomMy room (#1) had a fiddly deadbolt on the lock which was difficult to align. This was a bit hit or miss and on my second use of the lock was a bit frustrating. That said I never failed to use the lock. On balance I was contented with the whole experience. I guess some who didn't pay attention when booking may be surprised but you now know all that you need to!
So here's the deal. This property is self-service so other than getting a code to get access to the property and your key you don't really having any dealings with staff. The little interaction there was, was efficient. The rooms, kitchen and bathroom are all spotless. You share these with other guests. The other guest I met was pleasant company but this is of course the luck of the draw. The property is roughly 30 minutes walk or a short drive from the town centre. It is I assume a privately owned former council house. It is at the start of an area of similar properties and not a scenic area (unlike the centre of Inverness) but it seemed okay. The point is the property is fairly close to town in an area with a reasonable amount of unrestricted parking (and one spot at the entrance that may or may not be free). It was also reasonably priced and as I said clean and the property delivers on these aspects.

United States of AmericaDid not understand that we would share one bath with 4 other people. The first night was hard because the other family did not understand "sharing". Not Kenny's fault. the second night's other guests were fine. We thought the "shared bath" was just between our 2 rooms. The only staff we met was the housekeeper. She was delightful! The real problem was not being able to get a response from booking.com about a refund from our change from 3 nights to 2. Kenny was kind enough to refund us in cash. Thank you, Kenny.
The facilities were clean and comfortable.

United KingdomThe property is a bit run down and neglected cosmetically. The front door lock needs attention, I was the first to arrive on the day and the front door was open. It does lock but needs fixed. The other guests couldn't work out how to get it to lock properly and it is tricky. Bread was in the freezer but don't know how long it had been there, it didn't look good. Similar with a number of cartons of milk in the fridge.
I think this accommodation has bad reviews because bookers haven't taken the time to work out exactly what this is. This is not a bed and breakfast, guest house, or hotel. This is basically a 3 bedroom ex council house converted to 4 bedrooms and rented out, almost like an Airbnb. The owner is not present at the property but is communicative via messaging on booking.com or email. Access to the property is gained by a key held in a keysafe at the door. You are sent the code for the keys are on date of arrival. There is a shared bathroom, shared kitchen, and dining room. This is self-catering, although there are some items such as tea, coffee, sugar, and cereal. The property is clean and warm and gives you a bed for the night. Expect basic, and you won't be disappointed. The property is a 30 mins walk to the city centre. A spar corner shop is 5 minutes away, and a bus stop a 5 mins walk away too.

United KingdomThe house is ex-council, I think, so the walls and floors were paper thin. Thankfully the other guests were not up much later or earlier than I so I didn't lose too much sleep.
Room was cosy, bed was comfy, kitchen had all I needed, shower room was clean and the cleaning lady was absolutely lovely.

AustriaThe room had an unpleasant smell and we weren't lucky with sharing the bathroom - the other guests occupied it for a long time making it impossible for us to check out in time. Of course, in a small house you hear everything (doors closing, people walking, etc) but everyone tried to keep that to a minimum.
Parking is possible on the street right next to the accomodation. The rooms are ok and the check-in was very flexible and easy. Also, the city center is in (extended) walking distance.

United KingdomRoom was in ground floor next to front door. Very inconsiderate of other guests making unnecessary noise in early morning and late at night.
Quiet location in a safe residential area. Comfortable bed and very clean throughout the property. About 30 minute walk from centre which I did not mind as I like walking. Breakfast was cereal, toast and tea/coffee.
