Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesWe had two rooms, and the space and comfort varied wildly between the two. Read the descriptions carefully. We had splurged on the Ness Suite so we had space for us all to be together and were really thankful not just for the large couches but also the big bathroom so our family in the much, much smaller room could take advantage.
Great location right on the river in Inverness — easy to walk to restaurants and attractions. Great old-school vibe, and lots of choices for breakfast to help fuel the day.

Ideally located for a city visit. Bar food was pretty decent and, on the whole, staff were very nice.

IcelandÍ liked eveything, but this is the first time in my life my room is not “ serviced”. They dont make up your bed, empty trash, wash coffie cups. If you are á tidy person, this does not matter at all, but if you are not, it might become ticky.
The location is perfect, the staff helpful, the rooms very big and comfortable, Food and bar up to standard.

United KingdomThe room was rather dark. It was not possible to close the window when it was windy. It was a twin room but only had one chair. I had single occupancy. There was plenty of room for me but I would have felt crowded had I been sharing.
Reception staff friendly and helpful. The breakfast excellent. The sitting room on the first floor is very comfortable and the view on to the River Ness great despite the scaffolding. All the other little sitting areas were very useful and welcoming. The cupboard of books to borrow was a nice touch.

United StatesThe steps between some levels could be challenging for some.
We stayed in the Columba on the last night of a nearly 3 week vacation. There is a large, comfortable room on the second (?) floor that we used to finish up cheese, sausage and such before departing, and it was a wonderful, relaxing spot. Our room was comfortable and clean. There are a lot of steps to the various levels in this hotel, and even using the elevator there are some rooms that will require a few steps and some zig zagging around. We are fully capable of that, but some might not be, esp if you are dragging around enormous bags, which we weren’t. Friendly desk personnel, and an altogether pleasant stay!

United StatesCarpeting old looked dirty, the lift was pretty banged up. I felt like a mouse going through a maze every time I came/went from my room. My room was located on the first floor but I still had to carry my bags up a flight of stairs. I had a view of a alleyway
The staff was very kind. Convenient location. Outside of the building is beautiful.

United KingdomWe were Initially in room 301. Room hadn't been cleaned properly or hoovered and was still sweets on the floor from previous guests. Also the room door lock didn't work so we couldn't lock our room door. Also screws on bathroom threshold were raised and caught my foot. We got moved to 302. Room was spotless, shower curtain was 12"" to short and when you went for a shower the bathroom floor got soaked.
Location was excellent and front desk staff were amazing.

CanadaIt was very tired looking and in need of re-furbishment. The first floor lounge area looked like it hadn’t been cleaned for a long, long time…there were dirty glasses on the tables and a lots of rubbish in an open cupboard. Unfortunately, the common areas were probably wonderful in their day but now past their prime.
