Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomEverything. Filthy. People in there are obviously not hotel guests. Some been there for 3 years. One guy just out of custody for domestic problems with his wife. I Was shown to dirty communal kitchen to make cup of tea. No cups. Was offered a cup by said custody guy and he brought me a used Costa cardboard cup. The communal tv room is a through route to the kitchen so people walking in and out and the smells from the cooking overpowering. An ironing board is in place right next to the television. The designated smoking area, just out the back door into an uncovered non seated back yard. The bedroom door didn’t feel secure. No bedside table or lamp. Pictures on the website bear no resemblance. A dirty small camping table in the corner presumable to eat off after cooking something in the said filthy kitchen. Bathroom pipes are covered in years of damp dust. Everything rusty. Windows filthy. I took lots of photos but only seem to be able to put one photo for each area. I am a 74 year old woman and I felt very unsafe and vulnerable. I slept fully clothed on top of the bed when sleep eventually took over. I handed my keys in after the first nightmare nights stay with absolutely no intention of returning for my second night. Booking.com should be ashamed to have this place on their books under the heading of a hotel. If it wasn’t that I have been very happy on other occasions I would not be using again. I think I should be compensated for the nightmare you offered.

United KingdomThe dirt. It’s is the most dirty and disgusting place I have ever seen. Even camping sites and cleaner than this place. There was a build up of white dust around the room and stains all over the bath room also on the bed lining. I didn’t stay I actually left. It was noisy and I could hear the guest next door on the phone and slamming her door each time she left and entered. Also the locks on the doors are so flimsy, I absolutely didn’t trust that someone could enter during the night. And for my safety I left.
The location was easy to find and easily accessible. Wouldn’t advise it for any non able bodied people as it’s all steps.

United KingdomThe place was really unkempt, broken furniture. The guy who checked me in was really nice, but the others I'd seen at the reception wouldn't even respond when greeted. It felt really uncomfortable staying there. I would never again. Bed linen looked clean but was very smelly and itched my skin. Thankfully, I always carry a blanket when I travel. Poor lighting in the room.
Accessible for where I had to go.

ColombiaFirst of all the entrance was not the one on the pictures. Second, to get to the room we had to walk to a yard with everything cold and get to old stairs. The rooms was no clean at all, the bathroom didn’t have any mat or tile, there was not light in the kitchen and it had dirt all around the room.
Nothing, it is the worst hotel I have ever stay.

United KingdomRoom was not as described when booked. Basement room, no 'garden, city or mountain' view as described. Booked a 'twin premier' but did not feel this was a fair description of what we stayed in. High, small windows that had chicken wire and a wall on the other side, no view at all. Bathroom in poor condition, we wouldn't even go in the show due to old rusty fixings and looking stained on the floor. Room was overly hot, for which a fan was provided but even with windows open it was still too warm. Kitchen facilities were closed by 9pm which meant when getting back late from watching a show in the centre we were not even able to make a brew or use the facilities in the kitchen. There was no kettle in the room so we couldn't even make a brew there. No indication on booking or when checking in that there were set opening times for the kitchen. We were not told this or even shown where it was. The hotel was booked on the basis of having these facilities and how the room was described. It was the complete opposite of what we were expecting when booking. The value for money was not up to the amount paid for the hotel
The location in regards to transport. Short easy walk from the tube stations
