Absolutely stunning place, so clean and such a beautiful location with great views! Mike was an exceptional host, very friendly and was great at communication. We will definitely be staying again, we don’t have one bad thing to say about our stay here. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and even stayed longer than we had planned. We were sad to leave and hope to be back again in summer ☺️

Mike was an excellent host, he gave us great recommendations for where to eat. The room was beautiful, clean and perfect for accessing grasmere village. We also ate at Mike's cafe Freda and Ray which has the best coffee in the village.

The Chestnut Villa was exceptionally clean and stylish. The rooms are finished to a high standard and we loved the dressing gowns and mini fridge available to use in our room, also the separate dressing room was a lovely touch making our stay feel special. The view from our room was fab, and we love how close the property is to Grasmere without be situated in the village (just a couple of minutes walk in). The owner also owns a gem of a cafe called Freda and Ray in Grasmere which offers a great breakfast and coffee selection! The cappuccino I ordered was gorgeous. I couldn't recommended the Chestnut Villa and the Cafe Freda and Ray more!

Greeted on arrival by Michael and shown to our room, Alcock Tarn (upgrade as wasn’t busy that weekend). Stunning views out of the front and back and spotless inside, spent each morning with a coffee gazing over at Loughrigg Fell. Very spacious area throughout. Brilliant location just a five minute walk into the main village where Freda and Ray’s cafe do a cracking breakfast to set you up for the day. Couldn’t recommend it enough, can’t wait to return.

My wife mentions only one small nit: checkout time of 10:30 (especially when places don't open till 9:30) should be bumped up to 11:00. We got things finished on time, but it was a bit of a rush.

Mike was a wonderful host, kind, accommodating and helpful! The rooms were spotless, comfortable and equipped with everything a traveler would need. I'm not sure which view was more spectacular from the bedroom or the sitting room both incredible. It was a scenic and short walk to the lovely village. We enjoyed Tweedle's so much for dinner we went back for breakfast. I didn't realize how much I would enjoy the lake county and look forward to another visit and stay at the Chestnut Villa. Thank you Mike and staff! ;)

What an amazing lodge in a stunning setting. Mike was more than helpful and friendly and made us feel welcome in a matter of seconds. The room is tasteful and elegant and a gentle 5 minute walk into the village centre. We took advantage of the discount at the local coffee shop and cafe and we’re not at all disappointed, in fact we were thoroughly impressed rating our coffee as on of the best we’ve had in the UK. In summary we’d stay there again in a heartbeat.

No breakfast was included, but we were happy to receive a discount at a café in town (about a 15 minutes walk away from the guesthouse).

The room on the top floor was an excellent place to stay - light, spacious, clean, and with a comfortable bed. The westward-facing view over the mountains was stunning. Mike was a superb host who went out of his way to be helpful.

Nothing we were very well cared for, clean towels every day, and the tea and coffee supplies were also replenished every day.

Breakfast was very good...paid for separately as not included. Both my wife and I were very impressed with the upgrade on our room.and the location was excellent. Hats off to Mike the owner. Top notch with absolutely stunning views, we would both highly recommend visiting.
