Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNothing. We managed to park outside the property each day but it might be more difficult in high season
Everything. Very comfortable, well equipped, spotlessly clean house. The decor and colour scene was exceptional. Phil responded immediately to any request for information. A great host. It is an ideal location to visit Liverpool (2 cathedrals, of which the Catholic one has a real WOW factor - and of course a ferry across the Mersey), Crosby (Antony Gormley's 100 cast-iron, life-size figures in the sea), walks on the beach, Chester and to play golf, if you like that sort of thing. Walking distance to several restaurants. We ate at The HUT, a Sri Lankan restaurant, run by a young Sri Lankan couple. The food was truly authentic and so good that we went back on 3 successive evenings. It is a MUST visit.

United KingdomParking was on street, so it was a bit difficult to find a spot not outside someone else's front door. We couldn't find instructions for the appliances so we had trouble controlling the shower temperature.
Very neat, spotlessly clean and tidy, everything we needed. Very close to the yachting pool. Easy to reach shops and restaurants.

United Kingdom-thick feather duvets. Not good for us allergic to feathers. Had to sleep with a cover and a blanket we found. -Need a thinner tog duvet on in summer season. Or a seasonal appropriate duvet with bedspread so can be folded down if it's hot. -Would like a vac to use please. -Bedrooms could do with blackout blinds or curtains. If people like the light, they can simply leave blind up or curtains undrawn. Nice to have the choice as everyone is different.
The location was brilliant. Ideal for restaurants and beach. Very attractive back garden. Everything as described. Beds comfortable. Owner very hospitable and open to constructive suggestions. Will definitely be back.

Great accommodation in an unassuming street off the High St and 15 minutes walk from Royal Liverpool GC. I was very surprised and pleased with the level of detail and thought that had gone into planning. To have coffee beans and a grinder and leaf tea, supplied as standard (along with tea bags) was wonderful. I am sure to return even if the Kings Cap hotel re-opens

United KingdomCan't think of anything!
The house was really well stocked of basics and really had a 'home from home' vibe. Beds were comfy and although the rooms were small, they were fine for a good night's sleep! We thought parking might be an issue from looking at Google maps but we were never more than 15m away from the house. Hoylake was a handy town for the Wirral with lots of restaurants, shops and transport links.

United KingdomI am a frequent business traveller and prefer not to stay in hotels. This was the perfect location for where I needed to be and had the bonus of a short walk to the beach. Spotlessly clean accommodation. Everything is quite fresh and new. Very well equipped with thoughtful touches. The kitchen had everything you needed to cook a meal and included salt/pepper/sugar etc in the cupboards - which is very helpful when you plan to eat in. Great coffee machine with proper beans. It's a compact little house with everything you require to have a very comfortable stay. I'd happily come back and stay for a few days to explore the area.

United KingdomI would have given a 10 rating if the shower was better. The water pressure is weak and the shower just about adequate. You have to be really careful on the steep stairs too. It took a while to warm up but the weather was really cold. Perfect base if you’re visiting the area.
Great location and well set up by the host. Kitchen really well equipped with brilliant from beans coffee machine. Beds comfy. Nice freebies in bathroom.

United KingdomNothing - our stay was perfect, as was our host.
Absolutely lovely little house, well equipped and beautifully fitted out. Phil the owner was really helpful and generous, providing milk, orange juice and water in the fridge on arrival (a very thoughtful touch), tea and coffee and a terrifying bean-to-cup coffee machine that we were free to use but were slightly scared to! The heating was very easy to use and kept us cosy, and the shower was powerful - again, the provision of really nice quality toiletries was a lovely touch. The house also had a really sweet back yard/patio garden with a table and chairs which was very pleasant to sit out on in the sunshine we had during our stay. The availability of a washing machine and drying rack was great. The beds were extremely comfortable and the feather pillows were amazing. We all slept really well. WiFi signal was strong and there were tons of sockets, all of which were USB enabled, another great feature. We didn’t really watch much telly but there was plenty of channel choice. The location was perfect, literally a stone's throw from Market Street, a minute from The Lake (our fave Hoylake pub) and the beach, with the very tasty Dolphin chippy on the corner. Parking on the street outside was always easy. We were travelling for my mother's funeral, and it was a great help and comfort to know we had such a nice base to return to after each day. Phil has a fab place and is a wonderful host.
