Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We’re currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil, and North Carolina. For properties in these areas, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomNothing really - a slight damp smell on arrival but we just opened the patio door and it was fine.
Very clean throughout, comfy beds and lovely big white towels. The location was perfect for exploring all the Brighton has to offer…and we loved the little garden…it was just perfect! Thank you Carey.

United KingdomIt really is a charming cottage. It certainly lived up to expectations. The location is superb. It is near the Lanes shops, lots of cafes and restaurants and only a modest walk to the seafront. The terrace is very quiet considering it is in central Brighton and the small, sheltered garden is an added bonus.

NorwayNothing, really
Lovely small house in a quiet and charming alley. Very nice with good space for a family of three, kitchen, laundry facilities eyc. In addition a nice little garden with sun when it comes out. Really fascinating how peaceful it is, while at the same time so central in the vibrant North Laine neighborhood. The host Carey was very helpful with answering any questions via the app.

United KingdomThe light from the street lamp hanging outside one of the bedrooms shone throught the side of the blinds, making it difficult to get to sleep.
Great location and really comfortable little house. It was cold when was unseasonably cold and wet when we visited Brighton but the easy-to-use central heating responded extremely quickly.

United States of AmericaThe twitten was a bit busy this year, and some homes are renovating, so you hear construction at the moment, but I was out most days.
The location is everything. Stores and restaurants at your footstep. Brighton station and bus stops also steps away. This is my second stay at the cottage, and will continue to be my stay when in Brighton. If you're looking to also just relax, the garden is peaceful. Carey is thorough and ensures you have a good stay. She cares about her place.

I was attending an event in the Brighton Centre with my friend on Saturday 8th, so finding this 2-bedrooms cottage was perfect, as we didn’t want to share a bedroom. It was very clean and comfortable. The location was great, close to everything we needed, yet very quiet. The weather was lovely, so we were able to have breakfast in the garden, and we also did a spot of sunbathing, using the garden loungers in the shed. Instructions for check in and check out were very clear.

The cottage was aptly named ‘Charming’ it was well equipped & spotlessly clean, it was a treat to use the fluffy white bath towels, & sleep in immaculate white bedding, the cottage sits mid terrace along a narrow path, and is in a perfect location on the North Lanes, We were also lucky to see a couple of foxes sunning themselves in the garden. The host Carey was brilliant, liaising right from making my booking through to my vacating the cottage. The neighbours are very sociable too!! Thank you we really enjoyed our stay!!

United KingdomThere are no negatives. The only thing I will say as a point of feedback is, if it was my property, I would remove the wooden shelf rack behind the bath, and put a slightly longer bath in there.
The Host Carey was exceptional, excellent communication before and after. Links to car parking provided and all directions. Beautiful 2 bedroom character cottage in the heart of Brighton. Everything you need is provided. Extensive information folder which tells you how everything works etc. The bedrooms and bathroom were spacious and had good storage space. In the kitchen, everything is there, from cutlery to large fridge freezer, washing machine, dishwasher etc. Impressive. The property is very clean and warm. Communal bins are a few minutes walk away. The garden looks lovely, I bet it is great in summer, but for us it was raining. We will definately stay here again, when next in Brighton. Ten out of Ten.

United KingdomThis isn't a criticism, but you'll need to factor in finding and paying for your own parking should you drive down. I used JustPark - which worked very well.
The location is superb, and very close to the rail station, it is tucked away along a reasonably well lit passage in a charming run of terraced cottages. The property is really nice, compact with two decent sized double bedrooms and a very well appointed and new bathroom and kitchen-area. We didn't get the chance to use the garden, but it looked (from over the fence) just fine. It has everything you need for a short or longer stay.

The location is brilliant. Only a short downhill walk from the station. There is a pub and an excellent cafe round the corner. United States of AmericaCouch was a bit too small/uncomfortable, bedding needs upgrade, carpet needs cleaning, window treatments need to be replaced. A few updates would make this place spectacular but we still enjoyed our stay.
