Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomHardly anything. Possibly just the wall mounted television in the sitting room. The cottage is not suitable for less agile guests as the stairs are very steep and the walk into the town is up a very steep hill.
The cottage is very quaint but very well appointed. The bedrooms and bathroom were particularly well done.

United KingdomThere was absolutely nothing to dislike about Charlie’s Cottage!
It’s such a beautiful little cottage, with a very well equipped kitchen. The furnishings were tastefully done and added to the ambiance of the place. So lovely that some original features are still there, but new and old blend so well together. The bathroom is modern and one of the best showers we’ve ever had the pleasure of using. It’s situated a short walk away from bars, restaurants, shops and the Castle. There is also a lovely little garden to enjoy a glass of wine in. Rachel and Shaun were easy to contact and extremely helpful, getting back to us almost immediately. There is also a very comprehensive folder with plenty information in when you get there.

United KingdomAbsolutely nothing. The only suggestion I would make is a hand rail on the left hand side as the stairs are entered. (For oldies like us)
Breakfast not applicable. Location just a short walk from the town centre so for us it was perfect.

The property was perfect in every way. It was spotlessly clean and had everything you could possibly need. The bed was very comfortable and we had an excellent night’s sleep. The location was perfect and walking distance to town. There is a Tesco close by should you need any provisions. We will definitely be returning to Charlie’s Cottage as we want to explore the area more.

AustraliaNot much to dislike in this cottage so the only things short of earning a full 10 would be a washing machine and blackout curtains in the bedroom. Definitely recommended for exploring Ludlow and the surrounding areas. Ludlow was also better than expected as a place to visit.
18th Century cottage where anyone tall doesn't have to duck. No bumped heads during entire stay! Good sized rooms and bathroom. Excellent water pressure and easy to control heat and hotwater. The bed was comfortable for a queen sized bed. The cottage is well located in a quiet street with a short walk into the village centre and even shorter walk to Tescos. The cottage is tastefully decorated with quality fittings and furniture. The TV has streaming service. WiFi is strong and reasonably fast (by UK standards). Parking is easy with the digital residents pass. There is a USB charger in the compact kitchen and the kitchen is well laid out. Local information and rubbish / recycling information is excellent. We were supplied some basic pantry items which were very helpful. There are lots of pubs and restaurants within a short walk so we didn't move the car for our entire stay. The kitchen is well equipped and we loved the dishwasher.

United KingdomThere was nothing we did not like about Carlies Cottage.
This property is a hidden gem which we are so pleased we were able find available for the dates we required. From the moment we entered it was clear how special it was it had everything we needed and more, the attention to detail was so noticeable. Contact with Rachel and Shaun was spot on and the details provided were brilliant. So we certainly will be looking to return later in the year, subject to availability of course. Tha k you for a fabulous break.

United KingdomWe loved everything.
We loved Charlie’s Cottage, everything about it was perfect. It was very clean, beautifully presented and had everything you could need in a self catering accommodation. It was decorated for Christmas, which was lovely. Although the weather wasn’t good for our stay, there was plenty do in Ludlow and we could shelter in one of the great cafes. We also paid several visits to the excellent brewery across the road.

United KingdomNothing.
We loved our stay in Charlie's Cottage. During our 5 night stay the weather was very wet and windy, and it was such a cosy and comfortable base to come back to after enjoying the many delights of Ludlow . Every detail has been thought through to make the cottage a home from home. The kitchen is amazingly well equipped, the bed and shower are top notch, the WiFi and TV worked perfectly. The hosts are really easy to communicate with and the parking is effortless.

AustraliaEverything good. A washing machine would be useful.
Cosy and attractive Grade 2 listed cottage, well located. A lot of attention has been paid to make it comfortable and welcoming. Communication with the hosts was excellent - and very informative. The allocation of a residents parking permit makes on street parking easy.

United KingdomLiked everything !
Everything was provided for a wonderful stay - the cottage (built in 17C) was authentic with modern facilities. Rachel and Shaun made sure everything was to our satisfaction (which it was) The location of the cottage is only 2 minutes away from the centre of the lovely town of Ludlow. We also made the 20 minute train journey to Hereford from the nearby station.

United KingdomThe stairs in the house are a bit steep and walking around the town frequently involves a hill, fine for us - for now!
Charlies cottage is well equipped and very comfortable, especially the king sized bed. The shower is fabulous. It has a small rear garden that's pleasant to sit in on a warmish evening. Location is fabulous with much to see nearby. The cottage is very close to the centre of town giving you easy access to the regular markets and some good restaurants (our favourites being Parkway , Angel, and Csons) and bars (favourites being Ludlow brewery and a new quirky micro pub The Blood Bay) . The Ludlow Town Tour is really worth doing - very interesting town history,
