The smaller rooms are extremely small initially we had a small room, I may have been unlucky with this room. There were tiles missing from the bathroom floor, the bed moved 4-6 inches when I sat on it and the bedside cabinet fell apart when I opened it. When I opened the curtain which was not attached to the runner properly I was faced with a bare wall. However, when I went to staff, I was moved to a new bigger room immediately with no issues. That new larger room was exceptionally good comfortable and the view was good. This said the staff did tell me that they took over the hotel 1 year ago so this is a progressive project, and I would recommend this hotel to people visiting Derby. For the issues this hotel has the staff carry it along beautifully and the service is exceptional.

The Hotel was central to Derby and everything was easily accessible and easy to reach. The town centre is literally at the top of the road. Despite this there was not much noise from the town. We had an issue with our initial accommodation, the staff sorted this out quickly and efficiently and without any problems or issues. The bar is very pleasant with a good selection of drinks. Also the bar staff held a Cocktail evening where each guest eas given a free cocktail, which was very nice and well made. The staff are always willing to help and assist and the staff seem to have a view that nothing to to much trouble.

I’d have liked a small fridge in the room to store water (there may be fridges in other rooms but I chose the lowest price room and there was not one).

Excellent value for money. Fantastic old building with plenty of original architectural features. Very central to the city with a reasonably priced carpark near by. Comfortable, clean and lovely staff (special nod to Rajib who served us a faultless full English breakfast in the morning).

Run down, could do with some spring cleaning (the curtains were dirty), the AC didn’t work and the room was boiling hot, we were given a fan by one of the staff members while we went out but when we came back we noticed the room door was left unlocked with all our things in it, no parking (you have to pay extra £10-15 a day at a nearby pay and display)

Room was a little small and there was no hairdryer, which is surely a standard item in hotels these days. VERY limited parking (we got lucky as we arrived early).

Slight hiccup on arrival but all problems quickly dealt with and very honest with updates and answers. Property recently changed hands and I look forward to a return visit as I was very impressed with the standard and vision of management. Thank you for the courtesy shown.

Parking was paid by me, on street. The hotel has 3-4 spaces, occupied by staff I think. The walls needed a lick of paint in communal areas (reception, hallway, staircase), but the room was great.

The hotel had been recently taken over by a new team. The first 3 rooms they took me to were not ready - but they were so kind and apologetic, and found me a room ASAP. They had a wifi issue - this was essential for a meeting the next day, and they moved a router outside my room to ensure I could log in. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was cooked to order, great food and service. Location amazing.

Despite being given a password for the WiFi on my second day I could still not access the WiFi. I was travelling for work so this meant I had to limit my time in the hotel in order to access WiFi at work.

We had an excellent stay in room 18. The location is brilliant and the staff couldn't do enough for us. It was a lovely experience from check in to check out and the breakfast was perfect. It was our first stay and we're looking forward to staying again soon.

The room is very hot and there is no ventilation, you can’t even open the window properly. The bathroom is dirty. I had to use a lot of force to open the water in the shower and the stream was intermittent. The staff are clueless and difficult to find. The communication is very difficult. There is no contact with the staff from 9pm until morning - there is no timetable of front desk opening hours. The mobile number displayed on the front desk is useless as no one answers that phone. I was trying to contact them early in the morning and all the attempts were futile. Only at 0610 someone answered the landline. They kept my driving licence, most likely because the woman checking me in was clueless and forgot to give it back, but no one contacted me about it. I thought it had been stolen. There is no wifi in the room. There is no phone ‘Tea and coffee making facilities’ in the room - it’s just a kettle with instant coffee so do not expect a coffee machine. I have never stayed in this hotel before and definitely will not return. I strongly recommend NOT TO STAY IN THIS HOTEL!
