Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomHouse is on 3 levels so lots of stairs. This was OK for us but if mobility problems this would be an issue.
Location excellent:) information from Susan was brilliant, where to park and parking permit provided. On arrival milk was provided and coffee machine with pods, biscuits, bread in freezer. Even bowls of sweets. Cleaning equipment provided ,shampoo, conditioner. Situated just a stones throw away from Lincoln Castle.

Facilities were excellent with just about every piece of kitchen equipment you could possibly imagine provided. Susan was very helpful with any queries and I really appreciated being able to check in early on a cold and wet day! Highly recommended.

United KingdomAppreciate that it was out of the owners control but dissapointing to find terraced property next door was undergoing major alterations resulting in workmen and corresponding noise during the day. Luckily we were out of the property for most of this time. Feel we should have been warned about this before we arrived but didn't detract from our stay.
Location was ideal being very close to the cathedral, castle and Steep Hill. It was quite quirky in a good way with a comfortable double bed on the 3rd floor. Also liked the extra touches like shampoos, bubble bath, Espresso machine, milk in the fridge so owners had gone the extra mile.

United KingdomNothing. Please note the stairs are steep as will be stated by the hosts description: but even with significant arthritis in my left knee I was able to manage them.
The location is perfect. We parked our car and didn't drive it. We used the visitor parking permit provided by the host for the whole 3 days we were at the cottage parking just 50 m from the property after dropping off our luggage at the front door. Everything we wanted or needed was within 800-1000m walking. The cottage was well presented and offered perfect accommodation for 2 people.

United KingdomThe stairs from ground floor (where kitchen is) to first floor (where lounge / dining room is) are very steep and quite narrow, so transporting meals upstairs was a bit of a chore, but other than that, it’s a lovely property.
Fantastic location. A minutes walk to Lincoln Castle and Lincoln Cathedral. Lovely little cottage property, with delightful decor, and very well equipped kitchen.

AustraliaI don't have any complaints at all about Castle View Cottage, but I will say that has two steep staircases that are not for every level of ability. That said, the Cathedral and the Castle are at the top of a steep walk (and both of those attractions offer climbs up their medieval steps to see views of surrounding Lincolnshire) so in this regard, the steps at Castle View Cottage are in keeping with Lincoln's personality and aesthetic generally.
This is an exceptional property in an incredible place. It is a leisurely minute's stroll away from the Cathedral and the Castle - both of which can be seen from the windows of the living area. The 18th century building has been filled with modern design and comforts, a well-equipped kitchen (we cooked dinner twice, and went out for dinner twice in our neighbourhood) and two well-equipped bathrooms, one of which has a gorgeous claw-foot bathtub. The bed was heavenly - we slept beautifully every night. You will find yourself taking pictures of the interior and the view from the window. In a crowded and competitive market, it's hard to stand out from the rest. Castle View Cottage definitely does. It added a touch of magic to our Lincoln visit and we were sorry to leave it.

United KingdomWhat a fantastic weekend away for my birthday! Susan left me a bottle of wine on arrival and gave us a late check out so we could venture out before home time. The cottage is exactly where we wanted to be, within close proximity to the bars and eateries but still peaceful enough to get a great nights sleep. Everything went smoothly and the courteous call was lovely. The parking permit was very handy for the weekend and we had no problems finding a parking spot. The cottage is clean and tidy with everything you need for a break away, the patio was perfect for catching a few rays and the views of the castle are spectacular. We would love to return in the future.
