Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesI would rate this property as a 1 star hotel even it’s rated 3 stars hotel. The room is very small and no air conditioner. Do not stay at this hotel if you travel during summer time. They just provided 2 body towels only per room. The bathroom was smelled terrible when we check in. We have to tell the front desk to clean it again.
The location is very close to the underground and train station. It’s very convenient to access to everywhere in London.

United StatesThe rooms were small and not sound-proofed. We stayed there for two days but could not get a good night of sleep because of all the yellings and shoutings in the neighbourhood. Also, the lights in the bathroom often went off automatically even when someone was taking a shower behind a closed curtain. Maybe the motion detector should be repositioned to a better place. The bedrooms and bathrooms were tiny, but it was a trade-off considering the Carlton's lower price compared to other hotels in the popular King's Cross area.
Closeness to the King's Cross Station and eateries; clean rooms and nice staff.

PortugalI did not sleep because it was noisy and hot, and the fan, which offset the latter problem increased the former. The noise level of the fan was similar to having a big short muzzled dog snoring next to your head the whole night.
The staff were very friendly, allowed me to access the room as soon as I checked in.

AustraliaThe traffic noise, along with revellers, kept us awake. Ended up wearing ear plugs. The shower head wouldn't stay into position to be able to wash properly. A box of tissues in the room is something that should be standard, and the fridge switched on, so it's ready to place items into. Also, sheets should fit the bed. Ours were too small.
The location, while noisy, was almost opposite St Pancras Intel Train station, which was why we selected this hotel. Bed was comfortable.

MaltaOne can overlook that room is very small. More inconvenient is that in summer room is very stuffy.. there's only a fan that was on only when light was on. Window not soundproof and overlooks a busy rather noisy road including at night. So sleeping is disturbed. Soundproofing also needed between rooms..
This place is very central... A few steps away from King's Cross and St Pancras Station.

AustraliaInternet was patchy. Small lift for one person and 1x luggage. Noisy on the street which you could hear from rooms.
Close to St Pacras and Kingscross Stations. Rooms were cleaned every day. You could use the rooms for night time sleeping. Had a little fridge and fan. There are stairs. It is cheaper accommodation.

United KingdomNo complaints; it's a budget hotel so room furniture is cheap and functional and shower cubicles are quite small, but that's to be expected given the price and location.
Great location close to Kings Cross and transport links; comfortable bed, good hot shower. Good value for money. I've stayed a few times - you have to ask at reception if you need a hairdryer as they are not left in the room but they always have one available.

United KingdomThe shower head wasn’t in a fixed place and couldn’t be tightened so kept sliding down the pole and from left to right. The bathroom light didn’t have a switch, it was a spotlight that kept going off every few seconds, I had to use the torch on my phone when in the shower as light kept going off. Water in sink wasn’t coming out properly either, was coming out at different angles
Didn’t know there was breakfast. The location was perfect as it was right next to King’s Cross station. Bed was comfy and had everything I needed
