Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomA little ‘tired’ in the kitchen - not much space for preparation & washing up. We hadn’t planned on cooking but I think it would have been difficult. We were quite happy to sit in there for a continental breakfast & it was nice & warm because the host had left the Aga on.
Characterful and comfortable cottage - liked the sitting room especially as a fire had been laid for us. A lovely bedroom. Great location. Parking available. Approachable host.

United KingdomHard to contact owner (Sue) to get in (i did book late). But found her mobile number in the shop window downstairs! Lack of a hob or oven that was safe to use. The TV didn't work.. and instructions were no help, needs tech savvy guests.
Its summer so heat not a problem. Central. Characterful quirky old building. I liked the staircases and the big bedroom in the roof. I have a small car so on site parking. The new airfryer. Harmless eccentricities like opening the window with a rain stick. Shower works well. Privacy.

United KingdomIt was December and very cold. With a key meter, you really notice how much electricity you use and with not much effort we spent £60 in 5 days and 4 nights. A shaver/toothbrush charger would be welcome, so we bought one.
The cottage is beautifully rustic and higgledy-piggledy. It is in an amazing location and felt like a proper getaway. There were a lot of thoughtful touches like the electric blanket, wine, homemade cake and the already lit fire. There was lots of coal and wood available. The aga was warming and it felt very homely with a great TV setup with everything you need.

United KingdomThe sofa needs replacing and the aga probably not that convenient to cook on.
We loved the quirkiness/character of the property. The living room was lovely with wood and coal provided so we could have lovey cosy evenings in. The bedroom was large and airy. The property is also dog friendly so didn't feel on edge having the dog there. Sue is on hand for any questions and gave us a great tip for Sunday lunch with the dog!

The cottage is very homely with so many historical and quirky features. Our 6 year old granddaughter fell in love with it immediately. The kitchen and sitting room are both cosy. The bed is extremely comfortable. Thank you Sue.

United KingdomSee above re the parking. on site and the street parking was difficult even though we have a blue badge. Parking charges on the Green was costly.
It was self catering so breakfast was not applicable. The location was convenient and very quiet. It was nice to have outside space. Parking was an issue as we have a normal size family car which was too big for the space allocated.

United KingdomAccepting that the garage is under construction, the wild buddleia bushes growing in it could be removed to make access easier. There was plenty of crockery but no cereal bowls, the drinking glasses were an eclectic mix but didn't included tumblers or beer glasses. One wine glass was glass, the other plastic. In the very unlikely event of a fire the instructions from the first floor was to lower oneself out of the window and drop into the courtyard. There were a number of plant pots under the window which would have made the drop interesting!!
The location was excellent, in the middle of the town with just a short walk to the sea front. Sue was lovely, she explained everything about the cottage to us, had laid a fire, supplied extra logs and put a heated blanket on the bed. She couldn't have been more helpful.

United KingdomIt didn’t bother us but the electric is on a meter so if you go in winter you’ll probably have to top it up. Summer would probably be fine though
Small cottage dating back hundreds of years so full of character. Was great for our weekend break to get away from everything. With the super thick stone walls don’t expect phone reception or Wi-fi. We were looking to escape so suited us. You can get 4g in the bedroom though if you really wanted it. There is however Sky & Netflix & we enjoyed watching a film in front of the fire after a busy day out. Located in the middle of the town 2 minutes from the seafront. Access from Ratings Row. Owner lovely & made us very welcome. As it was a very short break we didn’t do any cooking so can’t comment on the Aga

United Kingdomwasn't worth the money we paid, we didn't have to buy any electric for the meter but we did worry about it not lasting & I did have to put on the emergency on the last day, we had trouble with the TV a few times, it was cold & we couldn't cook anything, took ages just to cook 2 slices of bacon, it wasn't what we thought it was going to be, I thought the place very depressing. the second flight of stairs was steep & narrow & it was a cold walk to the toilet which was not on the same floor as the bedroom. luckily we went in my partners small car as mine wouldn't of fitted into the small parking space, NO sea view & no BBQ
The location was good & the bedroom was quite large but very cold
