The bathroom seemed to have been renovated but the rest of the room was dated. One of the lamps beside the bed was not working, I’m sure it could be easily fixed but, other than when I was checking out, I never saw a member of staff at the reception desk. Probably because the property is quite old, there does not seem to be any form of soundproofing, you hear every door slam and conversations from neighbouring rooms. It’s a shame because the bed is very comfortably but noise made it difficult to sleep. However, given that the room rate was pretty cheap when I stayed, overall, it’s not that bad.

The hotel is in a nice location, close to city centre and by a lake. The bed was very comfortable. Nice bathroom. Room was clean. Price was cheap.

Ground floor room. Windows bolted shut. Privacy film over window so zero view. No air con, too hot. Arrived late, unpacked before releasing issues with windows so decided to lump it instead ask to live and have to repack, get dressed etc

some marks on bedsheets, and on walls. Comfortable sleep however heard lots of door banging. Had a knock at the door for room cleaning service around 09:30am but I was due to check out at 11 so that seems unnecessary.

Quick and easy check in/check out. Spacious dining area for breakfast with enough options. Very clean bathroom. Beautiful view from dining area.

The bedroom whilst adequate for our needs lacked the forethought of layout regarding the hairdryer , no socket anywhere near the wall mirror which I found annoying

We had no hot water over 2 days that we stayed, spoke to reception on first day, the lady said, it could be that lots of guests could have been using all the water, no hot water for a wash or shower, told reception today when we left, again that we had had no hot water, we were in room 132, she said she would have someone look at it, it was a bit too late, we had to have a cold shower

Noisy doors to other rooms echo in the corridor. Noisy taps in the bathroom, can hear all around when people are using the bathrooms.

On one night we had dinner in the hotel instead of going to the pub. It took ages for our meals to arrive. They said they had had to freshly make my wife's pasta. My steak and ale pie was fine, but the "vegetable medley" that was supposed to accompany it turned out to be peas and nothing else. "Lack of vegetables" said the waiter/barman. It seems that very few residents have dinner in the pub. They all go to the pub next door or further afield. The pub next door is a strong plus point for the hotel ironically but it would be good if the hotel restaurant provided better competition.

Location was fantastic, We enoyed the view over the rowing lake and inlet of the River Nene from the restaurant at breakfast time. We took our binoculars to breakfast to look at the birds! We also had the same view from our room. Another good feature was that there is an excellent Chef and Brewer pub next door to the hotel, which has a more extensive menu and drinks selection. Breakfast was good. Staff were very attentive. When we reported that the shower door had come off its rails on the ways into breakfast, it had been fixed by the time we got back from breakfast. The prupose of our trip was walking and the walks along the river and round the rowing lake in the immediate vicinity of the hotel were great.

Very little facility in rooms for clothing. No daily housekeeping unless asked for but felt awkward asking! Carpet in corridor on top floor uneven, trip hazard.

The restaurant menu needs a complete revamp. It’s just a lot of processed bland food which was disappointing considering they have clearly spent a lot of money doing up the place. Please consider having fridges in the rooms. I had to stay for a week and couldn’t store water and food in my room which was a pain as it forced me to eat at the restaurant more than I would have liked

Breakfast was disappointing. Cleanliness in the buffet area was sometimes poor. Cleanliness was generally acceptable in the room but bathroom cleanliness could be better (example - hair in the bath).
