Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

We had a lovely 4 night stay at the cottage over valentine's. The cottage was clean, comfortable and had great facilities including the huge bath which was a pleasure after long walks. Also dog friendly, our Arthur loved seeing out of the cottage windows upstairs. We booked a meal at the local pub (watermill) which was fabulous and dog friendly. Top tip, the local pret cafe next to the BP garage offer too good to go bags for £5 if you have the app, we picked up a selection of sandwiches and salads for our walks which was great value! We shall certainly return in the near future. Photo of Arthur flat out from walking and photo of the local pub food attached!

United KingdomNothing to do with the Accomodation but I was a little disappointed with local pub (100 yards up the road). I had visions of a traditional country pub but it was more of a restaurant that also sold beer, Food looked good but we were doing self catering. Beer was excellent (its also a brewery) - but the place just lacked atmosphere, Maybe I am being picky Just a warning. The exit from the property driveway is on a bit of a blind bend so its helpful if your co pilot stands other side of the road and waves you out
It was quiet, easy to find with the sat nav, clean, comfortable and modern facilities, good internet and easy parking. Host lives next door but we didn have any issues, Great location 5 - 10 min drive from Windemere town and great location to explore the lake district. I had to order some fuses for my car from Amazon. There were collection lockers in the petrol garage 2 minute walk away. - happy days. We stopped in Kendal to get a weeks worth of shopping. Lots of big supermarkets there. But plenty of shops in Windermere and there is a convenience store at the petrol station

Quiet wee village, perfectly located to explore the lake district. All amenities at hand! Quirky accomodation, with an extensive history, the upside down living made the most of the view out over the babbling brook, with the ducks swimming up and down.

United Kingdombeautiful location, parking, spotless, all the facilities you needed including extras like tea, coffee etc oh and lovely biscuits. massive bathroom, property was a great size and so cosy but elegant at the same time. authentic country feel. comfortable bed, great linen and a nice big bath. lovely and warm, nice carpets and black out curtains. we cooked in the property and the facilities were all there, even a lovely little dining room to have your food. I couldn’t of imagined it would be so lovely for the price. the owners were so accommodating, allowing for a late check out and letting us have 3 little chiuahahs at the property, we can’t thank them enough.

AustraliaMy husband and I loved this cottage. My favorite place was the front window nook. I enjoyed reading or watching the birds, sheep or the ducks in the stream. It was a great size for the two of us. Everything we needed. Met Paul briefly and had a lovely chat. We were close by to all the towns. It was such a relaxing trip for us and would highly recommend staying here.
