Looked pretty tired particularly outside and needs the refurb that’s planned, obviously in keeping with it’s listed status. Lacks the modern day comforts one expects from a hotel in this price bracket but the food was exceptional and the staff very attentive.

Unfortunately the bed was very short, so being over 6 foot I had to crouch in it. So a very poor nights sleep I’m afraid, even if it was in an original 20’s bed!

We loved the location and the whole art deco vibe. The staff were all lovely. The band on Monday night, particularly the singer were brilliant.

Exposed to the elements as it is, the hotel’s exterior needs some upkeep, and the water pressure in rooms can be variable.

Amazing location and sea tractor access experience. Loved our sea view room. Staff were consistently friendly and efficient from Richard, who met and drove us across the causeway to manager Vlad. The overall experience was fulfilled as advertised.

The hotel is very shabby in places, and looks in dire need of TLC. The dinner portions were very meagre, even though you expect small plates in a fine dining experience. It seems the hotel was understaffed, although the service at meals was still good. Having paid so much for a room, and the reception we received from Simon, I was expecting something a little more of a personalised experience. The milestone birthday warranted a couple of chocolates on a small plate with a "happy birthday"...

The ambience was terrific. Fellow guests also enjoying this "one-off" experience. Dinner in the ballroom was great quality, as was breakfast.

In no way affected the stay, but disappointed that the 'Mermaid Pool' was not available - not sure if this is seasonal or based on inclement weather during period of stay. Maybe being advised of this when checking in would be helpful.

Exceptional service. Excellent communication before arrival and very many special touches. Staff are all friendly, courteous and extremely helpful.

House itself and grounds need some TLC. Investment is needed to ensure the shine isn't lost from this jewel of a hotel.

Step back in time to this 1930s art deco hotel, set on its own island just off the coast. Stayed in a superb suite, very spacious with king size bed, cloakroom, spacious lounge with Nespresso machine and an endless supply of coffee. Nice extra touches included chocolates delivered each day and some fudge. Food in the Pilchard Inn was excellent, as was the dinner in the ballroom in the Saturday evening, with music from a three piece band. Would recommend.

This is a totally unique hotel unlike any other in which we have stayed. The wonderful 20's period decor and furniture transports one back to a time where fun and opulence reigned. This was an outstanding experience.

    The price 🤣

The staff were exceptional- I'm sorry I don't know all names- the ones I do know are Nick, Simon, Charlotte,Tony, all the waiters and waitresses, barstaff (including Pilchard Inn)Cleaning staff and reception staff especially the lady who dealt with our bow tie emergency so quickly and helpfully, lovely French gentleman who seated us for dinner in the grand ballroom and served us on other occasions too. Every single staff member deserves praise, appreciation and recognition- nothing was too much trouble.
