Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe small cottage does get extremely cold, and it was very noisy, and it's based in the courtyard where customers drink so you're constantly passing customers. Customers could also look into the cottage which wasn't nice, so I did feel overlooked, so I had to put up a mock-curtain. And being a single woman, this made me very uncomfortable. It also didn't have the luxuries I really hoped for, which was included in the other room I had paid for: the cottage was more for self-catering so it lacked the essential needs and comforts. Carpets or rugs would be nice too just for comfort and warmth. I really do wish I'd had the other room, as I did travel from London to treat myself, so I wasn't as comfortable as I'd hoped for.
Delicious breakfast and really friendly staff, and it's a beautiful, historic pub in a stunning location too. I'm only saddened that I didn't get the exact room I booked, as I was really looking forward to staying in the four-poster bedroom as a special treat! If I'm back down there hopefully I'll get the room I paid for!

SingaporeThough it was still cold, the shower hardly had any hot water so I was freezing whenever I wanted to wash my hair. The bath and sink had hot water.
Room was very spacious and bed was comfortable. Burford House was right in the middle of the little village of Burford and extremely convenient. Breakfast was good as well, albeit quite oily. Overall I really enjoyed my stay.

Property was on main road so expected some noise but at night it was great. Room was tired and needed some TLC. Breakfast was lovely, but menu was limited for daytime, i.e. burgers pizza etc. Room was clean, lovely hot water. New owners this year so hopefully working towards giving it a bit of a revamp.

United KingdomBooked this because it apparently had an Italian restaurant which had good reviews. But the hotel has recently taken over by new management and the restaurant now serves 'chip' meals, I.e. burgers, steaks, sausages etc. Such a shame - but we were recommended a very good gastro pub just around the corner so happy in the end.
Breakfast and lovely person who served it. Best breakfast I think we've ever had in UK hotels. Buffet had beautiful fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereal etc - and freshly baked croissants. As good as, if not better than we've had in France. Then I had eggs royal- very generous serving of smoked salmon with a perfectly poached egg (I had half portion, normally 2 eggs), my husband had a superb full English- all locally sourced products.

United KingdomThe property is suffering from a lack of TLC the room we stayed in was very comfortable but the door from the bedroom had a large split in the hardboard covering . The shower pipe work leaked and needed maintenance that stopped it functioning efficiently at the price point this was unacceptable in my opinion .
Location , service very good .

United KingdomRoom wasn’t ready when we arrived 2 hours after check in time of 3pm. No bathrobes as indicated on website. Room certainly wasn’t “deluxe”. One window shutter broken. Cleaning cloths left in bathroom and bathroom itself was pretty shabby with mould in the shower and some broken & loose floor tiles. Had to ask for heating to put be put on as room was cold. Room not made up by time we got back on second day at about 3/4 pm. Staff said they were short staffed and someone did come to room and ask if we needed anything - by then we were trying to have a bath & relax after a long day walking so not prepared to vacate room whilst things were done. £350 for 2 nights was not justified given the issues. On plus side location is great, staff were pleasant and breakfast was good.

United KingdomWe paid extra for a deluxe room and it wasn't very deluxe. The bathroom didn't have a roll tap bath like in the photos, even though we had the deluxe room. The staff weren't overly friendly.
The bed was a 4 poster and very comfy! The curtains were thick and kept the room warm and dark. It was clean.

United KingdomThe first room we stayed in was not of the same standard and needed maintenance. The curtains were coming off the rail and the shower didn’t work very well. It did have a gorgeous Victorian style bath in the large bathroom however. This would have been a beautiful room had it been maintained better.
Very good breakfast.Great location in the middle of town. The room we moved to was really lovely with a four poster bed and antique furniture.

United Arab EmiratesI stayed two nights. Bed was not made up, room not cleaned and towels not changed after the first day. It is customary to have this done every day in hotels and if it is not in this hotel, we were not informed
The hotel has an excellent location on the high street. The building is nice and historic. Breakfast was limited to egg plate of our choice, toast, coffee tea and juice but was good

AustraliaNo parking at the hotel itself but managed to park on the side street. The staff were ok but would not say overly friendly at all. We didn't eat there at all so can't comment on the food.
We stayed in the small house which is attached to the hotel and it was great and well equipped. The location is in a good place on the high street. The hotel was quiet and cozy.
