Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere wasn’t anything not too like.
The accommodation was in a lovely location. The host were friendly and informative. Monty the dog is gorgeous. Upon arrival we were met and shown the property. The hosts provided refreshments and breakfast cereals and bread plus a fruit basket. Fresh beautiful Lillie’s were in a vase. Everything was set out to perfection.

United KingdomOk - so what we didn't like so much was the outside, it was very 'rough' around the edges. Not sure what was between our annex and main house, if it was another holiday home it looked very scruffy on the outside as did the main house tbh. I just feel it all could have done with a real good clean. Our hosts - what hosts - we did not see them at all. No I do not want to see them all the time or have them breathing down my neck but I just feel if I owned a place like this I would pop my head in and say 'all ok I'm your host welcome'. BIGGEST thing I didn't like was the lack of a mirror. Yes there was a mirror in the lovely bathroom but that was it. Where was I supposed to dry my hair or check my outfit. No matter what type of break I am on I do like to wash and blow dry my hair and put my make up on etc, but for this I would need a mirror near a plug preferably in the bedroom - I found this really odd and very annoying. I know the host may reply by saying you should have let us know - if I had had a welcome from you I may have felt easier doing so.
The annex was lovely inside. Very comfortable and spacious had almost everything you needed. The bathroom especially was very nice. Comfy settee. All the things you need in the kitchen for a short break. Really handy to have a dishwasher. We loaded this and put on as we left - so hope that was ok with the hosts. Overall it was very nice - the welcome goodies were very much appreciated. We had our dog with us and found the annex to be very dog friendly.

United KingdomInternet connection was unstable but not the end of the world as 4G connectivity was ok. There was a slight mould smell in the wardrobes in the bedroom, but the smell dissipated once we opened the windows.
Jo and Simon were thoughtful and very helpful especially with getting us to the train station at checkout. The cottage was very comfortable and bright with all the necessary amenities, we were able to recharge after a day of walking around New Forest. Kitchen was well equipped to make a simple dinner, and the welcome food items were much appreciated. The kids loved their bunk beds and the big bathtub. Thank you!

United KingdomThere was nothing we didn’t like.
Fantastic location, really bright and more roomy than the pics maybe show. Very well appointed and homely. The owners couldn’t have been more welcoming, lovely to have milk, orange juice, fresh bread fruit and more on our arrival to save an immediate food shop. Thank you! We hope to stay again.

United KingdomIt was a very quiet location with trees all around, in the countryside. Peaceful/ restful. Found it easily, with use of Satnav and excellent written details from our hosts. The hosts had provided us with a Welcome pack of essentials , including breakfast cereals, milk, bread, biscuits, beverages and fruit. It was a good location for access to other parts of the New Forest. The hosts had provided maps and leaflets which I used for planning our daily trips.

United KingdomJo & Simon made us feel very welcome in their property. The added touches of flowers/fruit & biscuits were a real treat. Although we had bought our own there was also milk/cereal, tea & coffee etc. bit of a tight squeeze in the bedroom but once you’re all asleep it doesn’t matter! Lovely clean & bright bathroom and shower. The annex is convenient for a track walk to Everton & small shop. Not far to drive to Milford on Sea & New Forest.
