Some locations within the hotel needs some upgrading, there are areas where extreme damp is highly visible. The entrance into the hotel has some very bad cracked tiles which in my opinion is quite dangerous. The hotel could be really lovely with a bit of cash injection into it's appearance. With breakfast a pot of tea instead of a pump tea container would be better.

The location was good and could park the car from when we arrived at 12.00. Staff very friendly and helpful. The superior room was nice and clean. Breakfast was good.

What really lets the hotel down is the condition of the exterior. Scuffed paintwork, some rotton timber in door and window frames, discoloured render on the walls, a large rubbish skip in a prominent position, overgrown garden areas and last autumn's leaves still on the ground in mid-April. It makes the hotel look tired and uncared-for; which, considering the good condition of the interior, the helpfulness of the staff and the good food, is a real shame.

The staff were most helpful and pleasant. The room was reasonable, though there was no view and if I'd had to spend much time in it, it would have been rather depressing.

The place is tired, and the expected upgrade has been postponed. The same notice is in the rooms that were in them when I was last there 8 months ago.

I love the spectacular views of the Bannau Brycheiniog.

Looked like there was black mould on the wall and the room we were in was in the attic, so you couldn’t stand up while having a shower etc.

There was a sound that was constantly on in the room...didnt know where it was coming from it sounded like the heating system..but not sure..so it kept us awake most of the night

There was anything we didn't like. However, think the hotel could do with a make over .... a little bit of tlc.... believe a revamp is coming soon .

We had a very comfortable stay but there is no doubt the whole hotel needs updating as its decor and looks have become worn and dated.

Just about enough parking some of the spaces were a bit narrow

Excellent hotel, rooms with period furniture and high ceilings, views of the castle and quiet overnight with sounds of the river and weir in the background. Good breakfast and restaurant. Didn't use the outdoor garden terrace overlooking the town and river (too early in year) but it looked good.

Breakfast was adequate. On our previous visit, there was a lot more choice at breakfast. Fresh fruit and buffet choice (we were made aware of a kitchen upgrade). We enjoy the quirky layout and sloping floors (due to the age of construction). Fantastic location and vistas. Helpful and polite staff.

Breakfast overcooked or had been kept warm for a long time.. Disappoitedthat no continental choice Despite telling them, before I arrived,(over a week before) that our dog had died, the receptionist asked where the dog was. Even then when we left we were charged for the dog and I had to go back in. Still waiting for the money to get to my account. Our room had no carpet or mats even, which might have been because they thought we had a dog with us but it was so cold when going to the bathroom when once in bed. Was surprised that there was no information in the room.

Nice enough location and staff pleasant enough. Bed comfortable and room warm.except for the floor- see below. Glad to see a Bible in the room.

Heating in room was 2 blow heaters. Draughty windows so chilly. No heat in the bathroom and towel rail not working . Curtains ripped .
