Attentive staff and good location. Good idea to have warm/hot plates at breakfast. Premises would benefit from an upgrade.

All was good. Our room was above the entrance door, so was a little bright. However blackout curtains solved the problem.

Location was good if you don’t want to stay in the centre of Edinburgh. Good bus service into the centre of Edinburgh. Free parking.

There was frost on the steep driveway the morning we left and I felt someone should have been out gritting it.

Would have liked more vegan options at the buffet as well as vegan butter/spread and availability of milk alternatives.

Lovely room and bathroom, quiet location, breakfast was good, if limited in options at the buffet. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

The property is showing its age, and is in need of modernising. For example, the furniture in the room is dated, and the lighting doesn't match the furniture. You can sit in the chair, but the lights are all in the wrong position to illuminate reading material. Similiar with the desk. The main light is only controlled from the switch by the door, no switch for it by the bed. Admittedly I can only comment on 1 room, but as it was one of the rooms with the best view, I'm assuming its representative. The property is due a refurb, and the staff were keenly awaiting it. Hopefully it will be done over this winter.

The staff were great, very friendly and willing to help. The hotel location was perfect, it had great views of the castle and the firth of forth. The room was a good size, the bathroom also spacious. The bath was deep and the supply of hot water reliable.

The room was slightly dirty on arrival with a few cobwebs around but that's not a big issue just a nit pick. A bigger issue at hand is just the fact that the hotel was slightly outdated and is in need of a slight revamp.

Staff were friendly, bed was comfy, shower was warm and the room was warm and of course Magnis the cat in reception.

Room a bit run down, carpet looked poorly vacuumed. Mattress and pillow not the most comfortable. Quite expensive but probably ok considering Edinburgh prices in general.

Not too far from the city centre (45min walking, 20min by bus). Good breakfast (although exactly the same every day) - beans, eggs, toast, some pastries, cornflakes, fruit etc., ok for vegetarians. Clean bathroom, hot water with good water pressure. Good heating, very warm in the room. The location was quite and nice, next to a large park. Bus stop right in front of the hotel with direct connections to the centre. Nearest M&S and restaurants 15min away walking.

Just the need to carry out some re-decoration. It has great potential though. The lock on my room door was vey tempermental an it always took multipe efforts to et a green light. I had to get the card changed twice.

Breakfast was great and the staff very friendly. The decor was rather in need of re-doing, threadbare in places and lots of scratches etc. which was a pity as the hotel was lovely. I would go there again.
