Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomOne of our rooms had boiler problems and so we had no hot water at all. I was disappointed that the manager made no offer of a partial refund for this inconvenience, especially as we were on a cycling trip and needed to shower. Luckily, we had hot water to the second room, so all of us were able to use that shower.
The staff were great, very friendly and helpful. The food was good too and reasonably priced.

United KingdomThe bathroom was very tired and in need of refurbishment but again, it was clean.
The reviews for this property are really surprising considering the actual state of the hotel. It was clean, comfortable and well located. Yes it was old fashioned but it’s an old hotel - I stayed here while walking the Northumberland coast path and this was definitely not the worst hotel I stayed in, but has the worst rating. My room was actually pretty beautiful with a four poster bed, character features like shutters on the windows, and it was really quiet despite being on the main square.

United KingdomThe rooms need a good update the shower never worked as the water was far too hot, we never complained as only there for 3 days but maybe should have. Room 28 was very dusty in places and needed a good hoover under the units and the headboard was stained. Also storage was very limited
Staff very good but unfortunately they are short staffed so this had an impact on service but food was very nice and Morgana worked very hard

United States of AmericaWe enjoyed our stay. Some might find it less than ideal that the hotel is an old building. The floors creaked in our room, the toilet dripped through the night. One of the beds was lumpy. But there was no pretention that the hotel was 5 star. It was comfortable and not too high priced.
The hotel was charming and historic. The dining rooms were pleasant to eat in. Lovely garden out back.

United KingdomIt’s difficult to criticise because part of its charm is the age of the place, but my room was a bit tired in decor and the bathroom was dated. This may not be the case throughout the hotel.
Staff were very helpful at breakfast. Nothing was too much trouble. The setting is lovely. I had stayed at the Blue Bell almost thirty years ago, with my family in the annex, so it was great to stay in the main part of the hotel.

United KingdomSadly there's an air of tiredness and a bit of neglect in line with other posts. Unfortunately, the toilet in our bathroom refused to flush although, once we able to report it next morning, there was an immediate offer to rectify. The room was a bit spartan, the TV was a bit of a mystery with no instructions, the beds and pillows in need of a refresh but the bedding was spotlessly clean.
Location and price for a single overnight stay. Centre of Belford, a few steps away from the church where we were attending a wedding. The hotel staff were helpful in arranging for us to access our rooms early so we could freshen up and change clothes. The staff were generally friendly and most helpful. The hotel is an old coaching Inn and, although the rooms are clean, there are in need of some tlc and updating. Breakfast was more than adequate.

United KingdomFor the price - nothing we didn't like - would stay again - and again - and again.
Super location. Friendly welcoming staff. Well kept Gardens. A very old building with a history. Our bedroom was a good size with coffee/tea making and TV. The room was a little 'tired' but clean and comfortable. Allowing dogs in all areas was really pleasing. Breakfast was 'hearty' and all in all very good value.
