Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomDefinitely exceeded our expectations. We had everything we needed. The house is very comfortable and cozy. Very stylish and very clean. After a long hike exactly what we needed. There is a kitchen and even a play room for the guests to use with the maps and consoles to play if the weather is not so great. Very quiet location with the nice lake view.

United KingdomNothing I didn't like. Would like to suggest a small shelf in shower room next to small handwash basin to put a cup and toothbrushes on and for makeup items when using the mirror.
Good facilities, Good clean kitchen. Staff friendly. Would return.

United KingdomI would have liked more facilities in the room rather than everything being communal and would suggest leaving the key code in the rooms to aid those of us who may not pay full attention...
Great location, very spacious with very good quality facilities.

United KingdomWe received a friendly welcome on arrival. Some useful local information is provided in the room. Nice clean, fresh room and en-suite shower room. Useful drying room and kitchen facilities available. Only a short walk to the town centre and local shops but might be a little steep for some! Very handy parking next to the property. Very nice views on a clear day.

United KingdomYes, it is up a hill, but it is worth it! A make-up mirror in the bedroom would be helpful for when en-suite is in use. The only problem was that because it was so nice, I was almost tempted to sit in the garden all day deer-spotting, and didn't want to leave!
I absolutely loved this delightful bijou accommodation, thoughtfully and beautifully designed and presented, spotlessly clean, fresh white walls with yellow/grey/white check pattern soft furnishings throughout, such attention to detail, even the communal kitchen mugs matched the décor! Large en-suite bathroom was modern and spotlessly clean, comfortable single bed and bunkbed with crisp. white linen and towels, perfect for 3 single adults on a budget. There is a fridge/microwave/oven/hob in the communal kitchen, with access to limitless complimentary tea/coffee (wonderful, thank you!), we were able to bring back ready meals to re-heat and sit at the kitchen table or patio table outside, with a view of the loch, we also saw red deer in the garden! Very friendly and helpful host. Black Sheep is an exceptional example of how budget accommodation should be, thank you so much!

United KingdomA bit up hill
Looks like the property was refurbished not long ago so everything is extremely new and clean. Nice new bathroom facilities as well! Had a bit of hostel vibes as there is a big shared kitchen and relaxing area.

United KingdomThe room would benefit from a full length mirror. The shower was small and didn’t have a soap stand, and a hand towel was not provided.
Very modern place with a great view over the Loch. We were provided with great tips for dinner (Crannog Seafood) and breakie (Wildcat cafe). The staff was very friendly. Private parking is available on the property.

United KingdomCan’t really complain about anything. Over exceeded expectations and great value for money. Basic beds but as expected for a bunkhouse. Still really clean and had everything we needed.
Beautifully clean. Lovely bathroom, kitchen facilities and rest areas. Perfect location - short walk into the centre of Fort William. If you’re looking to save some money, you are welcome to order a takeaway to the bunkhouse and enjoy in the kitchen, snug or outside on the terrace overlooking the Loch. Gorgeous views of the Loch from the back garden. Really friendly host.

I’ve stayed in lots of bunkhouses and hostels. Most are old, tired, over priced and unclean. I thought this bunkhouse was absolutely great. Everything is well looked after, clean and friendly staff
