I would suggest more recliners around the pool area instead of the over sized chairs that were very uncomfortable. This would create a much more relaxed and chilled experience whilst relaxing around the pool.

Evening set menu was a delight. Staff are very pleasant. Standard rooms are tiny so we upgraded to a room that had a bath and the living space was so much better. Lovely pool and spa facilities.

The tap on the sink makes it impossible to wash over the sink, tap too big which made water splash on floor. Also shelf above too low, which means banging head when using the sink. The mirror above the desk is too high, when blow drying hair sitting down, can only see top of head.

We booked a club room. On arrival advised we had been upgraded. I considered this to be a downgrade. Room at the back of a broom cupboard with very old furniture, threadbare carpet which was very depressing. Changed back to club room very easily.

I have to say that the meal we had at the Anchor restaurant was superb 5 star service & stunning food . Honestly brilliant meal Chef , kitchen staff & waiting on staff to be highly applauded. The hotel staff all around where exceptional . The swimming pool & jacuzzi & sauna when excellent & our bedrooms super comfy . All in all loved our stay .

Being fussy here but would prefer a coffee machine that grinds the beans in the breakfast room.

A very warm welcome & exceptionally friendly staff. The pool here is absolutely fantastic, huge and the warmest pool I've been in for a long time! It is also a great shape (large L shape, enabling both serious swimming & children playing simultaneously. The jacuzzi is large & both a steam room & sauna. A good night's sleep, as was nice and quiet. Good breakfast in the restaurant which has a beautiful old fireplace and beams.

There was a bad smell in the corridor outside our room (probably from pipes). Window frame was in bad condition but neither of these things detracted overall from what was a very nice stay

Convenient location and the Spa is a welcome benefit. The room was clean but showing signs of age but nothing serious. Ate in the hotel which was ok, good for business travellers.

Breakfast was a bit basic. It was a buffet with the usual English breakfast options; very nice cooked breakfast. However the continental options were quite limited. I was told I could have anything I wanted but when I asked for more cheese, the waitress looked at my plate (I had a few slices on it - I like cheese), then looked at me and replied “well, I don’t know if you can” and walked away. She didn’t bring any more cheese. There were a lot of groups of women only, seems to be a popular place for girls’ spa weekend away. The hotel used to be a hunting lodge so it used to sit in the middle of large grounds but most have been sold and built on so the hotel is now in the middle of a residential estate; a bit odd but didn’t necessarily detract from the hotel itself.

Very nice building and the rooms are well looked after, even in the main building. Super comfortable bed, really nice shower, gorgeous furniture and decor in the main entrance.

I have been staying at This hotel for over 19 years, I just love it. It’s my little get away from reality. The rooms are warm and cosy, beds are comfortable. Staff are professional and friendly. Plenty of parking Great breakfast good food.

The beds around the pool could do with mattresses, they were very uncomfortable. I have been here 3 or 4 times and my meal Has always been very good. However on this occasion I was served chicken that wasn’t cooked in the middle. They served me another piece of chicken Whick looked like it was its baby brother (tiny) and by which time my husband had eaten his meal. We were told that the cheesecake of the day was chocolate. We ordered this but were served coconut cheesecake without a word being said. We were offered a complimentary drink but wasn’t sure if it was because if the chicken or dessert.

Friendly welcome at the reception. Clean and comfortable room and a lovely Spa.

The property is somewhat out of the way if you want access to Ipswich centre, and it is also a bit dated inside the rooms. A refresh would definitely increase the score from me.
