Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe went in the house and straight upstairs to our little room. We paid £128. That’s a lot of money. There was no room we could sit in a chair, our room had a high bed and an uncomfortable bench by the window. We couldn’t sit on the toilet without bending our knees. The outside chairs at the front were right in front of other people’s rooms.
No breakfast available, or any lounge to sit in. We went to the beach but had to wait as they didn’t open until at least 8.30am. Before that we went to Bay View who advertised outside but when we went inside said that they only served guests first and that outsiders could get breakfast until 10am!

United KingdomThe pull cord for the wall-mounted bedside lights could not be reached from the bed. If they were a bit longer that would have been helpful.
Great location - especially with car park directly opposite, proximity to cafes/pubs etc, and close to the coastal path

United KingdomOnly negative was that the ensuite was very snug, so long as you park in the long-stay parking bays your are fins to use the parking voucher is the lot just across the road.
The location was fantastic, Beer is such a nice quiet place, and Belmont House is too. Room was very clean and tidy. Good number of towels, there was fan provided and there were tea and coffer making facilities in the room. Very much agree the property is adults only, and the town itself seems more suited to grown ups thank kids. Host was responsive to texts ad all went smoothly.

United KingdomNot property fault but woken 5am by shouting...someone didn't like the seagull so was swearing at them very very loudly!! Also noise from Pub..but hey choose to stay near pub..expect noise!! Again not down to property, but Beer lacks decent places to eat...only two evening restaurants already fully booked ... pub grub in Anchor very poor quality and Dolphin not serving food...ended up with Fish and Chips...cash only so had to make unnecessary purchase in post office to get cash....no cash machines available.
Small but nice room. OK for a few nights.check in was easy. Never saw hosts so can't comment except to say email communication was great. Room was clean and nicely decorated and equipped.

United KingdomWe wish that we had booked a larger room had we have realised the difference between the rooms. Ours was excellent though the bathroom was very small but understandably it had to be as the room was not that large. This is not a complaint just a comment.
Beer is a lovely little village and the property was right in the village close to everything that the village had to offer. The free car parking was very handy

United KingdomWe really enjoyed our stay and we would definitely stay here again in the same room if it is just for the weekend like we did this time. However, if we were going to stay more than 2 days, we would book a bigger room.
Our stay in Belmont House Beer was lovely. The room was smaller than we thought, but we did not mind. We thought it was cute and cosy! The bed was comfortable, and we slept really well. The room had a selection of tea bags as well as coffee and hot chocolate. There was also a bottle of water and some sweets. The location was perfect..We were a few steps away from the beach and the centre. We didn't see the host(s), but before our arrival, we were given all the instructions for the check-in and check out, and it was easy. .

United KingdomThe room, Bedroom 3, was far too small for 2 adults and indeed more suited for single occupancy. The bed position only allowed access from one side, again for 2 people not ideal. Not hot water to the basin tap whilst the en-suites itself was more than adequate. If we hadn’t had the 2 small patio areas outside I don’t think our stay would not have been so enjoyable.
The location couldn’t be faulted in relation to the main town / car park and the beach. The small patio seated area at the front was a bonus for early morning coffee and early evening drinks. We saw a cleaner everyday with the room being spotless.

United KingdomThe early morning screeching of the seagulls! We wondered why the room had two complimentary packets of ear plugs! Our first evening was a Sunday and the restaurants were closed. The beach cafes and fish and chip shop were also closed. The Dolphin pub stopped serving food at 6.00pm and the Anchor pub had a queue for food and drink that extended out of the building! We later discovered that the influx of tourists was due to the regatta and the Lionesses winning the football. Staff who were off work were called in to help with the work load! We opted for the Dolphin before we knew about the Anchor - we were lucky! We'd been travelling all day and ate earlier than usual as we were hungry. The Dolphin lacks a little in atmosphere but does do a good Sunday Roast!
Excellent location - centre of Beer - and thoughtful touches such as wine glasses and cork screw, a little bowl of sweets and bathroom additions. The bed was comfortable, shower was good and the room was clean and tastefully styled. The house was beautifully presented with tubs of flowering annuals and the free parking was one of the reasons we chose to stay.
