The property is a grade 2 listed building and it’s like stepping back in time with the furnishings and decor…. It was beautiful. It is full of history and charm. It is spotlessly clean inside and the grounds and gardens are lovely.

No lock for your bedroom door when you went out

Outstanding house, a little quirky but exceptionally comfy rooms. Check in available from 12.00 was a bonus these days but essentially as it should be at other properties

    Nothing. We liked everything :-)

Barton Hall itself was a delight. Quaint, comfortable, clean and traditional. Location was perfect. 10 min walk into Pooley Bridge and so, so pretty. Best bit for me was meeting the staff and guests - very warm and welcoming. Special thanks to Jackie and Ailsa. Breakfast was great too, good choice. Myself (Richard), Rob (not Ben Ailsa!) and Stacy loved it. We'd love to come back again.

The rooms were not provided an individual key which would have been nice. Nothing went missing and it was fine

The rooms were spacious and comfy and had a sink to each. The shared bathroom was only between 2-3 rooms. The sitting room had several couches and a tv with the futbol. The garden was nice and open room for the kids to run around not near a main road. The hot breakfast was delicious!

    Wasn't one thing wrong!!

Alisia the lady of the house (the boss), is definitely the hidden gem! She was welcoming, funny and very warm but not intrusive. Considering it's an old country hall, the cleanliness was absolutely immaculate - not one ornament or skirting board had dust on it. Room was an amazing size and in keeping with the country hall and surrounding areas. It was so peaceful and quiet. Keys were not used, but coming from London weirdly enough, I completely trusted that method!

I had no criticisms, but some people might be put off by being unable to lock their possessions in their room - understandably unavoidable in a house of this age!

A good range of breakfast choices (cereals, fruit, yoghurt, toast, eggs or full English), served in an elegant dining room. Our room was spacious - I loved the four-poster and the deep bath! It was nice to stay in a hotel which still felt like a family home.

I should have booked more annual leave so my stay was longer!

Ailsa, Jackie and the whole team made our first stay at Barton Hall so enjoyable. They welcomed us and Honey our dog as if we were family. This accommodation is amazing, quirky and I can't wait to find out more of its history on my next visit! Breakfast was superb and even catered for me one morning early when I was off on a fell run. Don't let a non ensuite room put you off, you may get to use the famous bath, it's fantastic! Until next time, see you all soon x

    Having to go home.

This is a spectacular b&b in many respects. Set in a period house one should not be put off by it not being so called modern, it is in a beautiful setting, very comfortable, extremely well appointed and the staff/owner are lovely. It's a great place to stay.

Would have like the baths in the room to have a shower attachments on the taps so that we could wash our hair.

No locks on the doors, so didn’t feel possessions were that safe when out for the day.

It’s a very grand house, with the comfiest beds I have ever slept in. The property is very clean and has a lot of charm and character. Would definitely look at staying here again. The rooms are amazing! And so is the service.

Beautiful house, vary large comfortable rooms, super comfortable bed. The en-suite bathroom was as large as some hotel bedrooms. It had a cast iron bath which you can stretch out in. The breakfast was excellent with a Huge selection of cereal’s and fresh fruit. The owner was lovely and couldn’t have been more helpful and the staff were lovely. They took us a tour of the house which was very interesting. We will definitely return probably in the autumn.p

The only real thing missing in the bathroom was a shower attachment on the bath to rinse my hair but I managed with the jug!

We loved the spacious room and comfy beds. The welcome was wonderful and the breakfast a great start to the day. We were all well looked after, including our dog. The personal touch was really appreciated and it was a pleasure to meet Ailsa & Jackie!
