Pillows could be up graded as slightly hard otherwise room was very acceptable

Breakfast. The coffee and juice was not good, I left them both and just had water and then drove for half an hour to get a decent cup of coffee.

Location is perfect for edinburgh, quiet and good value compared to the city centre hotels, the room was comfy and perfect for 1 person for 1 night over all good value with lots of happy friendly staff

room clean but tired. breakfast better second day when not buffet dinner was average, ate out second night.

Bed and pillows too hard. Handles missing from drawers. Position of shower screen made it very awkward to reach and adjust taps. Water difficult to keep balanced temperature.. There was a wedding party while we're there and was very loud and noisy in the bar area

Food & Spa

Stayed here a couple of times, the location is good, the bedroom was next to the bins, so it wasn't the best view, clean, though. First time using the Spa, which was poor. Breakfast wasn't the best, half cooked bacon, full of fat, over cooked fired eggs. My scrambled egg had a piece of shell, I think that's what it was

Being an older building the rooms were so hot/trapped the heat. They supplied fans in the rooms but had very little impact. We had the window opened and radiators (except bathroom as we couldn't turn that off) turned off. Our original room also had an issue with the sink plug being locked in the down position and we couldn't remove. It was quite an old fashioned room and when we were moved rooms, the new room had robes and slippers (we didn't use but it seemed weird we had it in one room but the other).

Staff were fantastic and dealt with the issues we had swiftly. Food was simple but tasty (3 course meal as part of a function and breakfast). Overall good but fairly basic for a 4*. We sadly didn't use the Spa facilities. These might and ramped up my opinion.

Floorboards in room and hallways creaked quite a bit but to be expected as it was an old building.

The hotel was in a good location. Bedrooms were a good size and clean. Food was very good.

Room was very small, floor boards very creaky. Over priced on the food. Furniture very grubby by the bar area very worn and marked.woken early by people cutting the grass just after 7am, but very well kept gardens.

Area was lovely, very friendly place nice food. Lovely gentleman on reception area on our arrival very polite.

Parts of hotel look a bit tired, stair case & corridor doors could do with a refresh but rest of hotel well kept.

Set in a beautiful location, nice gym & pool. Staff very friendly & efficient. The team in bar & restaurant particularly good. Breakfast good but nothing special.

Only one let down which I received a refund straight away for though was I ordered and paid for chocolates to be in their room as a special treat but didn't get .

Daughter and her husband stayed for the first time from Australia ...as a treat from us...and thought the food was excellent, also the gardens were lovely to walk around..
