Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe hotel we stayed in (Highlands) was quite a bit away from the main buildings. I wasn't aware, when booking, that there were 3 hotels on the site. Ours was the furthest away. Not great if you have mobility issues which my husband . Our bedroom was quite a bit away from reception. Everything/everywhere was up and down steps/stairs. The pool, which I had hoped to use, was just that bit too far from our room. It looked a great facility. The tables in the lounge bar were covered in dust. Obviously not been cleaned or wiped down any time recently. Wallpaper torn/hanging off beside the bar. Ridiculous price for a glass of wine - £15!!!! Way over price ed.
The staff in all areas were very pleasant and very helpful

United KingdomIt is quite tired and didn’t have some things for a superior room that I would expect such as coat hooks. Having a map of the walks behind the complex and distances would be ace for those like me who run the paths.
Great location chose the hotel where the pool and spa were located. Although a large complex didn’t think would use the facilities as much if not in the hotel itself. Lovey walks behind the complex and green space.

United KingdomThe hotel just seems a bit tired, and there wasn't very much going on. For a hotel in such a beautiful location it feels like they've missed a trick with the layout and design.
We enjoyed the shopping centre, the staff were so friendly everywhere we went, the food was well priced. Also enjoyed the pool and water slide!!

United KingdomThere was no toaster for the sour dough bread and there was no honey at breakfast There was no dressing gowns nor slippers in our room and we noticed others had them so we had to ask the cleaner for them, perhaps someone forgot to put them in our room. Our toilet flush was broken and continued to trickle loudly. Apparently an engineer came 4 times to fix it but was unable to do so. Luckily my niece and I were ear plugs at night so our sleep was not disturbed but during the day if we were in the room for a bit, it was very irritating. Would have been good if the disco was not just for children but for adults as well!
The breakfast was good and it was wonderful that I was able to have non dairy milk, poached eggs and sour dough bread. There was the usual fully cooked breakfast but also porridge, fruits and other items The bed was very comfortable and the room was light and quiet The hotel is very well situated for walking and visiting the area. For example we went to see the reindeers which was amazing. There is a cinema on site and they also offer entertainment such as discos for children, bingo etc. The swimming pool is great and has a flume that my 83 year old father went on and enjoyed! I would recommend staying at the hotel we stayed in, rather than the other two hotels which are a bit more simple. We went for half board and the evening meal was delicious, generous and tasty. You get GBP 25.00 towards the meal and you either use that or have the two course set meal. We didn't have a bad meal there at all, well done chef!

We had really nice time at Macdonald Aviemore. The hotel is in really good location, in the centre of Aviemore. Our room was clean and nicely decorated. Nice and welcoming lobby with fresh flowers smelling everywhere. Cosy and handy bar located right next to reception. Choice of restaurants available. We only used Giovanni's - which was very nice. My daughter really enjoyed the swimming pool, softplay and activity centre are really good option for families with kids when the weather is not so nice. Lets not forget about cinema as well. Special mention to Ryan from reception who went an extra mile and made sure that small mistake didnt spoil our stay. Excellent customer service, thank you Ryan. We will be coming back.

United KingdomEvening meal. We found the situation strange restaurant half empty but it seemed we were a problem. We had no booking but as a resident I expected to be accommodated. The wine list is riddled with errors. Ordered a bottle of shiraz at 13.5 abv but when it arrived it was 11abv. Even the replacement bottle was wrong 13.5 abv but 13 abv on arrival. Our meal arrived and the chips were cold. By this I had had enough and went to get a drink at the bar to be told I,d have to go to the downstairs bar. Twice our key card did not work. We were in room 2334 which has to be the furthest from the front desk in the whole hotel. I suffer from sleep apnea surprised to find no electric socket on bedroom wall. Reception supplied an extension cable.
Breakfast was fair. Lack of direction about procedures. Offered tea/coffee when shown to table nothing after that. No butter on the table no check back if everything was OK.
