Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomAll the staff were helpful. The breakfast were really good and plenty off it. You could sit and relax no one bothering you. The rooms a clean and tidy beds are comfy but wasn't to keen on the pillows (a bit soft). It's central to all parts of the city attractions.

United KingdomOn checking in I arranged a late checkout with reception. Apparently, It was not recorded on the system. So the following morning I had to get out of the shower to find a receptionist (not the One from the previous night) knocking on the door and telling me in a very unfriendly and unprofessional way that checkout was 12pm! I explained that I’d arranged late checkout till 2pm. She was totally non understanding and had a really bad attitude to the situation when the fault was with their administration, not me, the guest.
Really quirky building in a great location. Receptionist Pippa was very professional and helpful.

United KingdomCheckin was slow - nt enout staff when it could esily be predicted that there are busy times for checkin.
This is a great location for central Liverpool. A very impressive (ex-insurance) building dating from the 19th century and on near to many old buildings and great pubs - also within walking distace of the waterfront. I frequentyly use this hotel

United Kingdomwhen we arrived in our room there was a problem with the lighting ie the hall light was inop we enquired with reception and they informed us that they were aware of this and waiting for parts to repair but they did quickly supply us with an extra floor standing light, the other thing that annoyed me was i put some clothes on one of the shelves and when i took them down to wear they were covered in dust upon inspection it was obvious the higher shelves had not been cleaned.
it was a nice large room on the back of the hotel away from the noise, the location of the hotel was perfect plenty of pubs and restaurants nearby and only a short walk down to the docks area, the breakfast was very good plenty of choice and of a good standard

United KingdomBreakfast: Jam had to squeezed on to a dinner plate - no little bowls for them. Coffee wasnt good but I am tricky with coffee because I don’t take sugar or milk. No black pudding! Room: we were moved to a larger room with a slightly better view after being so disappointed with the room we were given. It was like a cell. No phone. A view of a very dirty wall and two chimney pots. Room 218 was much better - but only one chair for two people. Bed comfy to sleep in but not to sit on. Paying £125 a night was not good value - when we looked at the other hotel prices close by. We were told by email That we had an upper floor. Which they wouldn’t give us unless we paid more. No information in the room. No water - we had to go and buy some. No newspapers available in the hotel. Building is a Liverpool treasure but the hotel lets itself down.
The classic building. The bed was very comfortable and the one chair which we had to take turns in sitting on!

Hong KongThe entry way looked more like a student dorm than a hotel. Yet inside the hotel bar and restaurant is really nice. I think a small reorganization of the lobby would do a lot for the feel of the hotel. The Aloft branding is a mismatch with the heritage nature of the building.
Hotel is well located close to Liverpools main attractions. The surrounding area is OK. Everything in Liverpool looks old and dirty, so the hotel location is fine. It’s nearly as good as it gets and there are worse places.

Isle of ManThe bathroom sink pressure was very poor, and the lifts were quite slow. The bedroom wasn’t the cleanest (weird stains on the walls and carpet)
Location was excellent— 5 minute walk from Liverpool 1, and just a walk away from most food bits we went to. The breakfast was delicious and the staff were more than helpful. Loved how there was a pool table and that the bar opened to quite late so we could have a few drinks in the later evening after having a meal out.

United KingdomThe openess of the toilet and bathroom meant that it could be slightly embarrassing if you were a couple in the early stages of your relationship, as you could hear everything! A blip with the shower as the water kept going off. The lights could have been a bit brighter. Breakfast on the Sunday morning before the Bank Holiday felt like the hotel was unprepared for the amount of guests as they ran out of some things and some parts of the coffee machine stopped working.
The location, structure, friendly and helpful staff, size of the room, we could not fault.
