Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe were given a disabled access room where the bathroom had a design flaw and water was all over the floor with nowhere to go. Had to jump on the dry patches to move around. When we decided to open the windows and get some fresh air, as it was a warm afternoon, we had dozens of flies in the room. We did mention it to reception so they can look into it. The communal areas looked a little tired and from the two lifts, one was initially taken out of order and at all times they are used as goods lifts too. So you’ll wait more than you’d expect to get between floors.
Nice location by the marina. Beds were very comfy, clean, and with a selection of pillows (one soft, one not so) in the room. Plenty of options for lunch/dinner in the vicinity.

United KingdomWe wanted to have bar food on the Thursday evening but were told last minute the kitchen was closing early which was a bit inconvenient as the local restaurants were closing due to a football match so we had to get a taxi into the Lanes.
The room was spacious and had lovely big shared balcony. Bed was very comfy. Pillows were a bit soft. The shower needs a larger shower mat for safety as it's a bit slippy on trying to get out of the shower and base of shower didn't drain quickly, may have been a little blocked. But lovely size bathroom and waterfall shower. Niamh and Sasha in the bar were stars as was Mark in the restaurant. There was a young tall blonde guy helping with breakfasts on the Sunday morning and he was a little brisk in his manner, but the other staff were lovely.

United KingdomExpensive for what it was. We had a very dark inland facing twin room. Access to hotel is difficult to navigate as entrances are on different levels from road or board walk, very poorly sign posted indeed and didn’t do the hotel justice. Once you know you know, but took us a while to work out. The board walk entrance is tucked away and dimly lit and the surroundings behind the Marina restaurants didnt feel like a place we would have wanted to be at night. That whole location looks very dated and uncared for.
Location was great for some great restaurants in the Marina. Modern feel interior. Nice small bar (and restaurant but was fully booked). Free parking was a real bonus which helped our decision to stay this far out of town. Staff were friendly and check in and out was super quick.

United KingdomSome staff may need to be trained on providing good customer service.
Most of the staff were very friendly and helpful. Location was perfect. We stayed in a room with a balcony which is a must have. There is free car parking (park on the 6 floor of the car park to access the board walk to the hotel). A huge choice of places to eat close to the hotel. A short bus ride to the Lanes.

United KingdomNothing really. We chose a sea view room this time; it was on the small side for the price but comfortable with a nice little balcony.
Comfortable and convenient. We were able to check in early to get ready for a function, which was helpful. Friendly staff.

United KingdomNot stayed in a Malmaison for a few years. It was a little more basic than other hotels - some economies now with toiletries. It took a long time to check in because the staff chatted to the preceding customers.

Reception staff on arrival were very busy and I felt a bit ignored however when my daughter left a valuable item in the safe the staff went out of their way to help get it back to us. Cleaning staff alos very helpful.

United KingdomThe restaurant is very expensive, lovely food but it’s much cheaper to eat elsewhere. Not enough tea, coffee & milk in the room so had to ask for more at reception & the fridge wasn’t cold enough to keep the fresh milk cool.
We like it here for the outside space & being by the sea & we had a lovely room. The staff are friendly & helpful
