Lovely lodge in a beautiful location

Additional charges. I can understand some extra charges for certain things, but if they're essentials just add it to the cost if the daily cost doesn't cover it. I found it odd that there was an additional daily cost for gas & electric....why not include it in the daily rate if you are charging it anyway? Charge for towel hire if you don't bring your own? Again maybe add a little on to the daily charge and provide towels. You have to buy logs for the burner from them (you have to bring towels but can't bring (or buy) logs from anywhere else). I understand this is an optional luxury and the price wasn't out of this world, but maybe just provide a few with the option to buy more as and when needed. None of these things were big narks and certainly didn't affect our enjoyment of the lodge and the stay, and all of the info was provided on booking so we were well aware of everything before we got there, which was good, but it sparked a conversation between us so I thought I'd mention it.

The lodge was a good size but cosy, especially with the log burner going! The location was great for what we wanted, up in the hills and forests, quiet and sheltered and with a nice little town just down the road with everything you'd need for you stay, as well as a nice play area for little ones and a well kept picnic area (when the weather allows). Plenty of walking and amazing views.

I was a little worried that the metre would run out, perhaps a little more instruction to manage those worries.

Perfectly delivered family accommodation. Everything a home needs with the log burner and very comfy beds adding that touch of “snuggliness”. All needs considered for your stay from wood to dish washer tablets. Alder lodge was perfectly positioned for watching the kids play outside whilst relaxing inside - an added bonus for a quiet 10 minutes. Will we revisit- absolutely.

Nothing! We really enjoyed our stay.

Great location. Our lodge was definitely in the best position. We felt it was very private and loved the view down to the burn. We walked up the hill on the dog track a few times. An easy walk up to forestry tracks. The log stove was very efficient and the whole place was warm and cosy.

Limited supply of every day crockery and cutlery. Having to pay extra for fuel and towels.

Good location for hill walking. Convenient for the village of Killin. Quiet area. Comfortable accommodation. We slept well there. Well designed lodge. Compact but adequate for four adults.

No directions or even the correct name of the facility, only got the lodge name on the booking I printed off. It also had the wrong contact number. As we had difficulty's finding it and didn't have a pen or facility to take down the new contact number when we phoned. There was supposed to be someone there upon our arrival before six, we arrived at 4.45, so not able to get any wood for the fire etc! The fitted sheet and mattress proctor were too small for the mattress and made for uncomfortable sleeping. The table top was so badly worn it had no varnish hardly left so not so easy to clean and to be hygienic. The sofas were very tired, like some aspects needing attention. We were looking forward to walks with our dog, but as weather was very wet and there is no path up to the hill and actual dog area, it was just not possible without wellington boots, so it very much failed for us.

We enjoyed the cosy cabin and the log fire and the quite location (That was spoiled with a wood delivery just outside our cabin early on our first morning and took a long time to get finished).

It would be nice not to have to pay fuel charges at the onset. Perhaps include in the price? The presence of a meter seems antiquated. Maybe a more simply controlled heating system would be better.

The staff were great. Very quick to address any issues. They spent time with us to provide local knowledge. Definitely people's people. Lovely outlook from the cabin and quite private. Site itself is lovely. As dog owners we appreciated the woods very much. It all felt dog welcoming. Showers were great. Hot water was efficient as was the kitchen.
