Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThe hotel needs a lot of updating, but you know this when you book. That is why it is so reasonably priced.

United KingdomA little more activity for kids to enjoy, park. Access to the tennis court, basketball net Which we did see. But couldn't seem to access this, a waste of facilities which would definitely be useful with children.
The staff were excellent and very helpful, I was also remembered from a previous visit. Reception was brilliant to me and my son.

United KingdomThe bed very firm and uncomfotable but again personal preference would be less firm bed. Tea /coffee tray wasn't cleaned. The full floor was very creeky but again an old building , it could do with beeing repaired. No lamp, one bedside table, no shower/shampoo but there was a small soap. I understand to keep prices down for guests but cutting down the basics isn't wise. The back stairways are manky. Keeping the place cleaner is much needed. I don't normally report negative reports but this time i feel i had to so it can be addressed because this hotel has so much potenial .
The garden and grounds ate lovely, staff nice but need training on reception area.tried their best though.

Netherlands-it was a problem to find an empty parking slot, -the radiator knob was damaged and it was impossible to reduce the heating, receptionist told me that unfortunately there is no maintenance personnel present during the weekend and there are no any other available rooms, the window had to be open the whole night, -furniture and interior is quite old and worn out, + a bit smelly, -breakfast was very basic and for given price, I would expect more variety, -Wifi was working, but internet was not, during my whole stay, which in combination with no GSM reception inside the buildings, caused total radio silence.
actually nothing

United KingdomRoom was exceptionally too warm. Radiator thermostat was broken off so I couldn't turn the heat down. I felt too warm and ill with the heat of the room. I don't like a cold room either but this was too much heat. Noisy during the night and outside room window many times during the night. It was awful difficult to rest and sleep.

AustraliaNo Communication to the guests, Lack of services so we were overcharged. Commercially they are set to fail, as they pander to Coach Tours but fail to give what they advertise and charge independent travelers. I feel sorry for the staff who are evidentially who apparently received the same lack of information as the guests.
We paid for accommodation and Dinner and a cooked breakfast The first night Dinner was between 7pm and 8pm the second night 6pm and 7pm which we only found out by accident. Some other guests arrived at 7.00pm and were turned away. Breakfast was good on the first morning and the dining room was shut on the second morning it was said there was continental breakfast, but it was very poor. The excuse was as there was no coach tours booked in they didn't supply breakfast to the remaining guests.

United KingdomThe Country House Hotel was very disappointing and the name did not match the accommodation on offer. The staff were very good and were doing the best with what they had available to them Check in was 30 minutes late. Restaurant was closed so had to go out to eat. Room basic and not well maintained. Shower with a curtain was sloped roof and husband couldn’t stand up straight. Curtains hanging off the rail, poor decoration. Sockets not working, a chair for a bedside table. The whole building looked neglected and it wasn’t clear if rooms were occupied or abandoned. Curtains half closed etc We were not aware when booking that breakfast was continental (which didn’t matter) however the description of continental usually includes bakery items croissants, bread, meat, cheese, fruit. I would describe this breakfast as fend for yourself. We were signposted to an unmanned function room. Down one side was a drinks machine for tea and coffee juice (apple or apple) a milk dispenser(empty) a table with a choice of 2 cereals cornflakes or rice crispies. A cool counter top with a large bowl of yoghurt (no label) a bowl of apples a bowl of oranges a toaster brown/white bread jam and marmalade. We had to go back to reception to ask for milk for cereals. The staff didn’t know where things were and it took some time before 2 jugs of milk were put out and the staff then left again. There were no notices for customers with information about what was on offer or how to work the machines. It was pretty dire. Even as a basic offering it was poor and not very good quality. For the whole time we were in the dining room we did not see one member of staff and no one came to see how guests were getting on The location of the hotel is ideal if you are going to the airport but there are no facilities nearby so Prestwick or Ayr is where you will need to go to eat. If you want a very basic stop over cheap and cheerful then this is the place.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean. The hospitality tray was well stocked. Lovely well maintained grounds

United KingdomOur booking was for Dinner Bed & Breakfast, whilst en-route we were called by Reception to inform us that they would not be serving us Dinner that evening as there were not enough guests staying to justify paying a Chef !!!! This is a large hotel and I don't think this is acceptable. The Breakfast experience was similar to my time in the Military with a huge dining hall and the most basic lay out with no frills and little choice.
The original building is beautiful with some lovely ornate features. The large extension buildings are not so nice and looking tired and shabby in places.
