Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

MoroccoThe entrance and stairs to the apartment do not give a good impression as they need a good lick of paint. This may be happening soon. The actual apartment is fine.
I really enjoyed my stay. The apartment is in a good location near to shops, cafes, the Meadows etc. The owner was very responsive and got back very quickly with replies. I had a nice room with window looking out to a wee garden. Bathrooms were shared but there are two of them and I never had to wait.There is also a communal kitchen with hob, fridge etc which is very handy.

GermanyLovely room with everything one needs in a well-run apartment. It's close to the centre and the nearest park and has the next grocery shop just downstairs. Plenty of cafes, shops and restaurants are nearby, as is the bus stop so it's literally just 5 mins to the Royal Mile.

Perhaps a suggestion of a polite notice that I the morning, take a shower but then return to your room to beautify yourself. Canadathe sliding lock on the bathroom door is broken, so the owners have installed a second one. However, they didn't remove the old one, and you can't tell it's broken, so you use it. Then someone walks in on you. I saw this three times during my one night stay. Once I walked in on someone and assumed they forgot to lock. Later someone walked in on me, which is how I discovered the lock was broken and I had to use a separate, different lock. Then while leaving I noticed someone walking in on someone else. It's another brainer to fix this so I'd encourage the owners to do so asap.

United KingdomNot much not to like stairs up to apartment slightly narrow but can't be helped it could do with a few more lights too. Shared bathroom not a problem just small, one shower didn't get hot.
There was plenty of space in this first floor homestay apartment, loved the old town house with the high ceilings, it was warm, very clean and kept tidy, beds was comfortable also had a fridge and kettle in the room too. Kitchen was a bonus with it's ovan and microwave. Bathroom are small but tidy. 10 min walk to castle and royal mile.
