Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FranceIt's expensive for a private room with a shared bathroom in a private house. The bathroom is old. For slightly more expensive you can get a room in a professional hotel and sometimes with breakfast The heating didn't work but I should have asked about it at some point.
Autonomus entry with digital code. Comfortable bed. It's probably also in Airbnb

United KingdomI did not realise that we would be sharing a bathroom. The complimentary biscuits were out of date by several months. There were no bedside lights or bedside tables and the nearest socket was too far away from the bed.
The bed was very comfortable and everything was super clean. It was great to be able to take our dogs.

United KingdomEssentially a bedroom with ensuite in a small modern semi-detached house. Quite thin walls, creaky floorboards, basic, rather cheap furnishings. No chairs, no wardrobe (a cheap metal rack with hangars). Woken up all night by others using the shared bathroom in the room next door. Rather stuffy on a hot day, even with windows open. Not sure if there was access to any garden to sit in (don't think there was). Complimentary drinks - all there, coffee, tea, and a jar of biscuits, but it'd be nice to have a little fridge to keep things cool, especially given that there there are no breakfast facilities and, on a Sunday, you have to wait for places to open (maybe not until 10). A bit overpriced for what it is.
Clean, convenient location, good comms from the owners prior to arrival. Would recommend the New Gurkha Inn a few minutes' walk away for food.

United KingdomTwo issues. The bed and regrettably the thinness of the walls. The mattress was really not very comfortable. Thinnish and both of us felt the metal support bar in the middle of the mattress. The other issue, and this is something endemic to houses of this genre and build, is the thinness of the walls with the adjoining bedroom. The hosts have mounted nice flat screens on the shared wall, which is nice, however, one can easily hear the tele in the other room. And it wasn’t exceptionally loud. Luckily it was only on in the early evening and not when we returned from dinner. I suspect they could hear ours if we had turned it on. There is really nothing that can be done about this. Just know that you are staying in a bedroom in a house with a thin shared wall; and voices and television chatter are also shared. And parking, you may have to park on the street if the two house spots are full.
Excellent host. Very friendly, great with communcation, helped us sort parking etc very quickly.

United KingdomThe parking was not there as they had rubbish on the drive having building work done so had to park down the street and carry my bags and dog, back yard was a building site and dog couldn’t wee had to,keep taking her a walk ,ceiling paint peeling off, host kept turning shared bathroom light off and corridor light, annoying, no blinds on the front window so had to keep curtain closed to walk around as people in the cul de sac can see driving up, would never stay here again
Nothing would never stay here again

United KingdomOwner was up very late (past midnight) and we were woken by her talking. She didn't come and say goodbye in the morning even though we knocked and texted to say we were leaving. No breakfast. We did find a very nice cafe nearby. Shower was variable temp,
Friendly and helpful. Enormous bed, large TV. Very good security.

United KingdomThe listing needs to make it clear that of the three guest rooms, only one has en-suite facilities. We had to share with a family. We would have traded the huge TV will all the streaming channels and Alexa, for a shelf to put a glass of water (and a glass would have been helpful!) and a bedside light. A large bed crammed into a small room right against the wall. Not the host's fault that there was nowhere to eat on a Monday evening (except for take-away fish and chips), but there are good restaurants in Brecon and Hay-on-Wye.
Not much to like.

United KingdomThe other guests were very noisy. I wasn't too keen on the pallets under the bed, they stuck out and made it easy to knock your legs when climbing in and out of bed. We had to walk through a messy side yard to get to the back terrace, our host was embarrassed about it but I feel as the enclosed garden was depicted on the booking site, and was a reason I picked it, it should have been better
The bed was nice and big. The projector TV was great. The enclosed back garden was ideal for our dog to sleep in the first of our two nights, and it rained the second night so we brought her in, and there was plenty of room on our floor. The bathroom was well equipped and there was a good provision on the tea tray. The house has good security. Our host communicated really well throughout. Its location is really good, near a lovely dog walk, and it's very close to the town centre which has a lovely pub, convenience store and church.
