Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomIt smells a little damp, but no more than would be expected. The access is tight in a larger car, but OK.
Quirky and very comfortable. Easy to find, very friendly welcome, convenient to walk into town, great facilities. The room faces south with an outside seating area. We only stayed one night but would like to have stayed longer.

United KingdomThat we only booked one night at this lovely place.
The room was exceptional, had everything we needed and such a unique experience to sleep in a cave. The decor was oriental-style with a feint delicate scent of joss-stick in the background. Absolutely delightful. Our host was very helpful and friendly and clearly proud of the work he has it in not create this superb accommodation.

Troglodelice is like an oasis, the location was perfect, on the edge of Azay le Rideau, within easy walking distance of the Chateau but calm, tranquil and with such a beautiful garden. The owners were invariably accommodating and friendly throughout. We had two rooms, each well equipped and with their own personality, and both incredibly comfortable and welcoming. Dinner was excellent, with a tailored menu for the vegetarian in the family. Breakfast was absolutely outstanding, the spice bread was a particular hit with the whole family, but all of it was lovely.

United StatesThe cottages are unique, quiet, and comfortable. They are cleverly renovated storage caves below an old manor house. Our room had a double bed and a single, with a large and beautiful bathroom plus a handy kitchenette. we also had a private garden area with lounge chairs and a private patio with table and chairs. It was a great place to relax and rest. We enjoyed the large continental breakfast for an extra cost. The hosts were welcoming and quick to communicate. we highly recommend this stay.

United KingdomNothing serious that would put us off visiting again. We missed the entrance - it is up a track about 30 m after the exit sign for the village. It's a personal thing but we would prefer a door to the bathroom and toilet for a bit more privacy, but being a cave with only windows at the front I guess that ventilation would be hard if more enclosed.
Interesting and rather quirky place. It really is a cave. A very warm welcome. Very clean and well presented. You have a small terrace plus a small lawn with sun loungers. Inside a small kitchen area and a fridge is very handy. Private and safe parking. Dog friendly. Highly recommended. Close to the town - 10 minute walk.

United KingdomWe visited during an extremely hot period with temperatures over 30 degrees in early September and travelling with a dog we specifically booked accommodation on our trip that had air conditioning. We stayed in the Eden Room which was advertised (and still is) as having air-conditioning. Unfortunately this was NOT the case, rather there was a fan available for use. We found a small unplugged de-humidifier in the corner of the bathroom which my companion managed to turn on but required emptying and after a short period of use blew out warm air. The cave as might be expected was extremely humid and the absence of AC made for an uncomfortable nights sleep, or lack of. Guests who did not expect a/c may be happy with the accommodation however we specifically booked on the basis of this facility which was NOT available. The room was also advertised as having two double beds another reason for booking the property. On arrival we discovered one bed (as photographed) the second was in the form of a sofa bed which we had to specifically ask to have made up for us. Again perhaps a problem of mis-advertising but had we known it was a sofa bed, we would not have booked this accommodation. We had relied upon the property having a BBQ facility but this was also not available although we discussed in broken French the cooking facilities. Other guests should not rely upon being able to BBQ, again perhaps not a problem for guests who are staying longer, but we had only booked one night and had arrived with food to cook based upon the premise that there was a BBQ available. Breakfast is charged at E8 per person for what looked like a croissant and some bread, jam, juice and coffee. As our dog was not allowed in the breakfast area (shed) and the proprietor told us to put the dog in the car (in 25 degree plus heat) and return without him for our meal, we left without sampling the food.
A quirky room, and great bathroom with good sized towels (a rarity) and a fabulous shower.
