Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThis place would not be suitable for someone who can’t walk in narrow stairs while at the same time carrying heavy luggage.
Perfect location, nice and cozy little apartment. Wonderful supply of breakfast foods.

CanadaAs previously stated, the building is not accessible and would not be appropriate for anyone with mobility issues.
Everything was perfect from our early check-in to departure. The apartment was large, clean, comfortable, and the location couldn't have been any better. Tons of food and drink left for breakfast. I would most definitely stay again!

What a find! The location is fantastic… right in the old town. The building has ancient features, but has been remodelled to be super modern. Breakfast items are plentiful and communication with the owners were quick and easy. We loved everything about our time here.

GermanyThe apartment was small and if you are coming with very big suitcases (like we did) it is a small place to open the suitcase. plus we were on the third floor and there is no elevator and the stairs are very small. So this place is not recommended for elderly people unless you get a room on the ground floor or on the first floor maybe.
The amenities. The apartment was small but with literally everything you might need. Exceptionally clean and well maintained. We loved it. The location is perfect as well.

New ZealandThere wasn’t anything we disliked but the stairs would be problematic if you had mobility issues and the shower is quite small but the water was plentiful and hot. There is no car parking at the property.
A great location close to the Funicular and metro in the heart of the old city. Small grocery stores, a pharmacy, restaurants and bars were close by. We had the one bedroom apartment near the back of the property and it was super quiet. The apartment contained all we needed plus unexpected extras like hair straighteners. The breakfast items included juices, cereal, fresh fruit, jams, honey, butter, cream cheese, cheese, milk and frozen pastries. There was an espresso machine and a selection of teabags. Other appliances included a small oven, small fridge, microwave and a 2 ring hot plate.

United KingdomSmall space with lots of facilities in the room so we folded up the table & chairs at night time. The toilet bowl under the waterline needs treatment to get rid of unslightly stains. Curtain tie-backs difficult to undo so we could close the curtains at night time.
Great location in the old town. Really well equipped. Good breakfast with super laminated instructions to prepare. Thoughtful touches too like hair straighteners, fan, dishwasher & washing machine capsules, recommendations, super laminated instructions everywhere.

AustraliaOur room was located on the third floor of steep renaissance stairs (not a problem for us, although provided a great work out)- if mobility of concern this may be tricky.
We loved La Loge du Vieux Lyon which is in an historic building, located centrally in the historic region of Vieux Lyon. Safe and secure apartment which is well equipped with all appliances including: hair curler and robotic vacuum cleaner. Within metres to the wonderful Vieux Lyon restaurants.

This hotel is built in a beautifully restored fifteenth century silk weaver’s workshop. It was delightfully quirky. Some people might be put off by the lack of a lift but don’t be - this place is a gem.

The apartment is very well located in the center of the city, next to the old time and all tourist attractions. The apartment is very well equipped, the style and cleanses is really nice. The breakfast prepared in the fridge and kitchen for self made breakfast was very large and good to prepare.

New ZealandLots lovely fruit juices, cheese, milk but maybe take your own cereal if you eat in as they all had high levels of chocolate in them. Very minor issue. Bakery just around the corner.

South AfricaLoft room bit uncomfortable for 2 adults.
Location is about 200m ftom Vieux Lyon metro station. We arrive early and could leave our luggage there before checkin. The host, William was very helpfull and called our next host in Dijon to find out detail about our checkin there. The accommodation is spacious, nice bathroom, good coffee machine and coffee. Breakfast provided. Croissants, bread rolls, yogburt, cereals, cheese, jam and fruit juice. We were 5 adults and the loft room was a bit uncomfortable but still good for a one night stay. Perfect for 2 adults and 3 children.
