Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Great location. The right side of the river for a great view of The Royal Fortress of Chinon which was illuminated at night. A short walk over the bridge to the centre, for bars, restaurants etc. Parking was available in front of the hotel when we arrived. The owner, Matthieu, was very helpful in phoning restaurants for us for a dinner reservation. It was Sunday evening. Our room was very comfortable. Interesting decor mixing mid century and older antiques with modern facilities . The breakfast was superb, everything was high quality. We will definitely be back next year

JerseyOn the wrong side of the river as no restaurants close by, apart from a Lebanese.Restaurant in hotel not open at weekends. Though it does not say this on booking .com and when the hotel sent me info prior to arrival it did not say this either. This was why we booked it as after a long drive we are happy to stay in. Check in staff a bit abrupt, told me we could walk. Did not offer to book a restaurant for us. Also to.d me I could drive though I said I had had a glass of wine.. not willing to give us a ground floor room. My husband struggled with the stairs and I had to carry up the luggage no offer of help. A small thing but would have been a nice gesture.
Beautiful decor and large room with good bathroom. Bed linen very nice and comfortable.

Good location - walk across the bridge to reach the old town. In a quiet, fairly residential area. 3x parking spaces on site and free on-street parking nearby. Lovely breakfast of homemade and local produce. Nice touches in the room. Very clean and bathroom looks newly renovated/decorated. Owners live on site and were friendly and spoke good English. Would highly recommend.

United KingdomNothing of note.
Beautifully appointed hotel and the person who greeted us (I think one of the owners?) was very friendly and helpful: pointing out on a map the restaurants we could try, the prettiest streets, how to get to the wine cave he had seen we were interested.. and more. Breakfast was delicious and the outside area was really nice. Lovely walk across the bridge to Mediaeval Chinon which was also a highlight of a trip. We only stayed one night but I would very happily return to stay longer!

Germany-
The owners are a lovely family and we wish them all the best. Our friends had an injury while cycling and the hotel owners drove our friends to the hospital, as well as helping to organise the return of the bike to the rental company. Usually we never take breakfast, but at this hotel we don't recommend anyone to miss breakfast: 4 kinds of cheese, homemade chocolate pasta, freshly baked baguette and croissants, chocolate cake, homemade yoghurt and more! The window of our room faced the courtyard, so we were afraid it would be noisy. But in the morning there was no one in the courtyard, so there was no problem. There is a parking space for bicycles. There was no problem with communication in English. In many years of travelling we have never seen a better hotel

United KingdomWe loved our room, which was close to a lovely enclosed courtyard and close to the breakfast area. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful, giving us some ideas for dinner and how to appreciate Chinon. The location was fantastic, being just a short walk to the city centre across a bridge with wonderful views. Breakfast was excellent and included a lot of local produce. We would love to go back.

Upon arrival at the hotel it is a very cute country building, hidden away from the busy main roads then when you step inside it has such a modern interior which is very well thought about and is really appealing to the eye. Particularly in the breakfast room you are surrounded by green plants and it just makes you feel so zen and relaxed. This is a family run hotel and that really added to the beauty of this place. You had the children running around playing as not only is it their hotel but it is also their home. You would have no idea as they were so well behaved but it made the hotel feel so homely to their guests and it added a special touch that is hard to find. The room was super clean, bright and airy and we had a very comfortable and restful sleep. We were given lots of extra information about what restaurants to try and what types of cuisine they had as well as bring pointed in the direction of really cool bars. We had all the right information we needed for a great afternoon/evening in Chinon. Couldn't have been more helpful. The hotel was so close to everything which meant you could walk everywhere. What was really nice was the suggestion of a bar called La Guinguette de Chinon which looks over the Vienne river with the view of Forteresse Royale de Chinon, where we had the most spectacular evening. This was exactly what we had been looking for our whole trip and this destination was one of the best alongside the hotel being one of our favourite places to stay. Would highly recommend and we can't wait to go back.
