Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IsraelNo closet in the room. Inconvenient windows and poor natural light, although spot lights in the ceiling provide very bright artificial illumination. I'd consider the price too high for the hotel's level, but I realize that it probably reflects the market.
Location is great, right on the edge of Vieux Port, easy walking distance to everything in the city centre, shopping streets and restaurants abound within a few blocks. A few minutes walk to the metro, just 3 stops from the railway station / car rentals / airport shuttle. Front desk staff were helpful, no problem arranging a (little bit) late checkout. Room was on the small side, but functional.

AustraliaBe aware that even a superior room does not provide you with a lot of space. Fortunately it was enough to open our suitcases, and the tiny desk was just big enough to set up our laptop.
The building has been modernised. We paid for a 'superior' room that was very comfortable, well equipped and with an excellent bathroom. Having a lift to the floors was great. The WiFi worked well. The breakfast (15€ pp) was very good, with a range of foods on offer. The staff were always very welcoming, cheerful and helpful. The interior garden in the main building was a great place to relax over a drink (and you can bring your own sandwiches or pastries to eat there.)

United KingdomThe bedroom is not in the same building as the reception and breakfast area.
The location is excellent to walk into the harbour and the city centre. The staff at the reception was very helpful to find the right shops and restaurants and the breakfast area, which also included the garden courtyard, was just divine. A paid underground parking is 2 min away from the hotel.

PolandSo we ve booked a room with a terrace - I dont recommend it at all, it looks fine on photos but actually its extremely claustrphobic narrow room with a hm.... kind of terrace that has no view cause its in between of buildings - but not like another building is for example near it, for example 3 meters away, it litteraly touches it. BUT! amazing staff has changed our room to othe one that had 3,5 meteres high, 24 square meters and it was very very nice. It had a windows facing patio where some conference was held and every day people where starting a day there at 7am!!! which is not exacly an hour to start a day while on holidays but its not hotels fault. Breakfast was fine although very very basic.

RomaniaRooms could use better soundproofing, I mean I don't hear anything from outside, but I can hear every minute detail or motion another person is making in their bathroom (from a different room). The location itself is a bit shady in the evening, but I guess that can be said for most of the Old Port of Marseilles.

LuxembourgThe rooms were quite a lot smaller than it seemed from the pictures. Also, way to reach the rooms from receptionis not at all convenient - perhaps at least even out the pavement for the luggage would be better.

IrelandMessy pre-check-in as hotel tried to use card at 3 am on the day of arrival which arose suspicion with bank resulting in payment being blocked followed by numerous emails and texts by the hotel threatening to cancel our room - vey stressful experience as we were in transit on planes, etc. and not able to respond to hotel's immediate requests. I suggest hotel revises their policy on this activity informing the customer and taking this action perhaps a day prior so that this unpleasant situation is avoided.
Location was central, close to everything. Little terrace outside room was handy. Bathroom was very spacious. Friendly staff, gave us iced water, which was appreciated during the hot spell.
