We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):

We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

United KingdomThe fan in the room was broken and cold air poured in through the vent. We had to cover up the event with a bag and duct tape to keep warm. When we arrived it was freezing! Also there was no Reception open so had to go through the pallava of checking in on a machine at the lodge.

Breakfast buffet was nice and the service in the morning was very friendly.

United StatesIt was a last minute late night hunt for a place to stay in the French countryside—not always easy! The Logis Hotel popped up as a choice on Google maps then I was able to see it on booking.com—very fair price and was so relieved when I was able to print a room key from the automated little shed/building at the gate of the property, the machine worked smoothly and found my reservation even though I checked in almost as late as midnight.

United KingdomIt was very basic. I realise it wasn’t expensive but it smelt of cigarettes. The shower was okay but the room didn’t really meet our expectations. We didn’t see any staff so I can’t comment on them. The check in procedure should have been straightforward but the machine took ages. We arrived very late so there was no one to help.
We thought it would be a convenient stopover.

NetherlandsNobody at the reception. Needed to call someone. Very very small rooms. Noisy with all the traffic of motorway and local road. No garage available despite promiss made upfront. Restaurant was closed and needed to go to other place 800 mtrs away from hotel. No breakfast available in the morning despite promiss that it would be available. Nobody at reception to check out. Luckily the cleaning service came and helped us out.

United KingdomDO NOT STAY HERE! The hotel claims to have 24 hour check-in however, this is not true. When the actual reception is shut there is a sign to use the automatic check-in machine in a wooden cabin by the entrance to the hotel. Don’t use this machine! This machine took payment for the room but did not provide a room key. As it was 23:00 we tried again but the same thing happened. We paid again but still no room key. We had to call the emergency number for the receptionist to come to the hotel but when she did she made us pay again. So we paid for the room three times! We have tried to get our money back from the hotel but they are claiming they know nothing about the payments via the machine. Booking.com also don’t seem interested in helping us. Be warned - do not trust this hotel!
