Communication with the host was very poor. He couldn't communicate in English and there weren't instructions to find the place and get into the apartment. We had to test several doors and guess which was the apartment. We could only reach him on the phone. The apartment was dirty there were plenty of hairs in the shower and bins had garbage, even used feminine hygiene products, very disgusting. We had to clean the whole apartment before using it and look for clean sheets before using the beds.

    We like the location.

When we arrived the door had been left open. We went in. The apartment had not been cleaned from the previous guests. The beds were unmade, dirty towels on the floor which was also dirty and unwashed, dirty washing up in the kitchen, half drunk wine bottles in the fridge, rubbish in the bins. We called the owner who arrived. He stank of alcohol, was completely drunk, slurring his words and then he fell down the stairs whilst trying to look for the keys. We tried to help him get up. He staggered away and got on his moped and rode away!! We called Booking.com instantly to ask for help. They said they couldn't help us, couldn't move us to somewhere else and couldn't give us a refund as this was an issue we needed to take up with the landlord - this is apparently clear in their standard terms and conditions. It was 5pm at this point. We had to find somewhere to sleep for the night and so spoke to some local people and managed to find another BnB locally that had room that night. We have tried to contact the landlord numerous times via the contact details on booking.com. We have had no reply and no refund of our money. Booking.com have been completely useless and did not help us at all at the time or since. We paid full price for a room we never used. Do not book this property under any circumstances

Sadly, although the apartment was tidy, it evidently hadn't been used for a while and was a little dusty. It would have benefitted from an airing, hoover and dusting before our arrival. My partner needed to fix the toilet flushing mechanism, and the expensive de longhi coffee machine didn't work ( the grinding part had become stuck). The person who met us on site to let us in is somewhat eccentric, and difficult to get hold of, but he arrived eventually, without the keys - so by the time he had returned with the keys - we were waiting over an hour to get into the property, having arrived when we said that we would. In the event he was charming in his own way and we weren't massively inconvenienced, but non french speaking guests may struggle and be less amused.

Excellent location with free parking on site in a private courtyard and a beautifully appointed and furnished apartment. A lot of the contents in the kitchen in particular were brand new, with the labels/ packaging still on. It was very quiet at night. We recommend the phillipe leclerc caves 50m or so nearby for wine tasting and an amazing cellar tour at 10 euros each ( not paid if you buy any wine).
