Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe restaurant seemed to promise a French gourmet meal. Unfortunately, the one dish on the limited menu that I wanted was “not available”. The wine I ordered was not available at the vintage printed on the wine list and I was given another vintage without telling me first. We settled for the basic menu. The next morning I paid for hotel and restaurant without seeing an itemized bill for the restaurant. Only later (too late) did it occur to me that the charge for food did not make sense and that I must have been charged for the more expensive dish that was not available. I’ve filed a complaint with the hotel and await a response.
The location is spectacular, the chateau has plenty of character, the room was small but with a lot of nice touches and a modern bath room.

United KingdomWhilst the room was clean and tidy, we were in an economy room, it looked like it had been newly spruced up, and the bathroom was a good standard. There were just some small improvements that could have been made such as holes filled in on walls, hooks for towels, wardrobe that was tall enough to hang dresses, aircon working at night, and the sound proofing was terrible.
Amazing location. Beautiful hotel. Tom was really helpful, recommending and helping with day trips.

United KingdomUnfortunately the air con in our room wasn’t working, so we asked for a fan but that didn’t work either. Our room was very small .
Such a beautiful building right in the centre of the village. So much character. The outside seating areas were absolutely beautiful too and very spacious, lovely area shaded by trees.

United KingdomIt would be a thoughtful touch to provide dog bowls, especially considering the additional charge for accommodating our dogs.
This charming hotel resembles a quaint riverside castle, offering delightful river tours. ( Not part of the hotel) It exudes an authentic atmosphere, with a welcoming chef-owner. Our room was comfortable and spotlessly clean.

BelgiumThe bathroom still showed signs of age. Insufficient water pressure to properly shower.
I stayed here over ten years ago and boy, did they patch up the dusty old place for the better. Especially the almost Ibiza-esque lounge/terrace on the ground floor is a welcome renovation. Good food and correct service. Great beds. Unrivalled location in the Gorges Du Tarn.

United StatesThe location is in the middle of the gorge area, so it's great for exploring there (but that also means it's on a very windy, narrow road that must be navigated very slowly). The restaurant on site is very good and they have a really lovely patio for dining. The staff was very helpful and considerate. The rooms are updated, so don't expect the chateau feel as much as the hotel feel. There is no air-conditioning and the room had a very small (and not very helpful fan). (I stayed at other places with no ac and on hotter days, but at least a good fan helped a lot!) There is a "no food in rooms" rule, so don't expect a snack, a fridge, or to get take-out from anywhere, let alone room service.

AustraliaMy 13 year old nephew at times. When he refused to eat a baguette because it had tomato in it, even after we took the tomato out, because it still had an essence of tomato within, I lost the will to live for a while. The baguette was not from the hotel. It was also delicious, unlike my nephew.
This is the third time we have stayed here, and it gets better every time. This time we took my family, including a 13 & 15 year old, and they absolutely loved it! The team there are super friendly and efficient, the breakfast is great, super fresh croissants made on site, and bread from the little boulangerie up the road. We had dinner there every night, lots of choices, fantastic meats from the family farm, great pasta, hard to fault. Chef Paul does a fab job! Tom & Francis could not be nicer, going over & above the call of duty a few times! The setting is stunning, and we hiked up to Roc du Hortous one day, then canoed 24kms right from the hotel on another day, total bliss, it could not have been better!

United StatesIt's hard to realistically complain about a restored 17th century Manoir. The place is in impeccable condition. You will see some uneven floors. But so what? The place is in excellent condition, gorgeous and the service is outstanding. We are so glad we stayed.
You can't beat the setting. They team is easy-going and professional. There were no hidden charges or attempts to push for extras, which we rather appreciated. The owner was affable and understood how to take care of his team and his customers. Another nice touch was they truly got the idea of an American-style breakfast, which can be hard to come by in France. For some, it is a genuine comfort.

United KingdomBreakfast was a little disappointing for the price no fresh fruit, scrambled egg somewhat watery. No salad choices on the main restaurant menu no fresh vegetables ( we added fresh vegetables to one of our meals and were presented with ones from a frozen packet) or fresh fruit. The room was also tired looking, a crack in the toilet seat, shower cubicle dated and not particularly clean either. With a little bit of investment and care our room would have been more than acceptable.
The restaurant food was good albeit not too many choices. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Scenery around the hotel was stunning. There’s not too many 3 star hotels that can boast a magnificent view of the gorge as this one had.

United StatesIt was very hot during our stay in August and as the rooms didn’t have air conditioning it was a bit uncomfortable. The fan provided was a relief.
The historic hotel is in a great location in the center of La Malene. It has a good restaurant with tables in the large garden as well as a “tapas” bar on the street with music nightly.
