The property was in a good location, but needed a deep clean and care.

The place felt damp, there was no welcoming booklet to explain how things worked. The cleanliness was poor- black hair left in a bathroom cabinet, kitchen skirting board was dirty, the bed head was dirty. Both bedside lamps did not work, and when we investigated the socket had been pulled away from the wall. The property had potential, but it needs a deep clean and care, the plug in the bedroom was a fire risk.

At first glance the property looked cosy like the photos.

Negative points : 1. There was no prior info briefing or induction by the property mgr about the facilities or appliances in the apartment upon check in. 2. The lockbox locked to the outside security grille of the living room window was difficult to open to access the keys to the apartment. The keys are not labelled so it is difficult to work out which keys were matched to which door locks. 3. It took help from a good Samaritan resident to help us understand how to open the apartment door as there are two keyholes in the door and no instructions were made available by the property manager about the sequence of unlocking these locks to gain entry to the apartment. 4. Not all matching instructions manuals to the various appliances were to be found in the apartment. It was evident some manuals referred to non-existent appliances. The property manager had not checked beforehand about this issue making life difficult for new guests who struggle to understand how to operate appliances correctly. 5. There is poorly placed lighting in the apartment. Key areas were very poorly lit such as the dining area. The quality of the lighting levels were comparable to the dim candle-lit dark Middle Ages! 6. The rotting smell that emanates from the bathroom permeates the living areas as there is no airlock between the bathroom or kitchen and between the bathroom and the living and dining areas. This smell even permeates the entry passageway into the bedroom area. This issue was raised by 3 earlier guests but not fixed every time as evident in the flippant reply that a "product" was used to address it after we being the fourth guests raised it before checking in. 7. There is a safety issue with the unmarked change in floor levels between the dining area and the adjoining entry passageway (a raised platform) into the bedroom.

Positive points: 1. Spacious grd flr Apartment. 2. Plentiful storage space. 3. Good water pressure. 4. Quiet street. 5. Modern appliances. (See negative points 1 & 4 below)
