Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomParking is at a premium in Vence and none available directly within the old town. Municipal car parks are 6-7 mins walk and usually busy.
Perfect location. Compact, simple accommodation with good shower and comfortable beds.

AustraliaLack of lighting going from restaurant to first floor on very narrow staircase. Lock on after-hours hotel entrance was finnicky. If you have a car you beed to.park in pay lot outside old city.
Located in heart of this beautiful town perched above the Cote d'Azur near Antibes, St Paul de Vence and Nice . It was quiet and charming and slow-paced.

SwitzerlandThe building is very old as expected with narrow and steep stairs to get to the room. Just something to be aware of. Also as the room is above a restaurant and facing a small square, it could be noisy in the evening. The breakfast option was not as described at the booking, however excellent.
Great location with car parking nearby outside the medieval walls. Breakfast was excellent, and we bought a jar of the home made preserves. Friendly welcome and good communication to arrange how to find the place and where to park the car.

GermanyThe rooms were not heated and we were freezing. The Aircondition Heating didn’t make it warm enough. We were not informed that there was no breakfast, only bed. So the price for the rooms for one person was a too high for what was offered.
The historic building and the beautiful silent square.

United StatesThe place is hard to find (I had to ask people on the street, as google map could not help us). Also, you need to walk to it for a bit (no parking nearby, as far as I could tell). Also, climbing some major stairs was required to reach our room. None of these things was a problem for us, but it is worth a mention for someone who is considering this place, IMO.
It is in the middle of Vence, and exploring the village was easy. The decor was very interesting :). There is also a restaurant on the ground floor

United StatesThe place was difficult to find esp since we were driving. There is no way to drive to the venue or to reasonable stop near one of the lanes. It means you need tp park the car and ten take your luggage with you to find the place. It was also a bit weird going through the kitchen of the (closed) restaurant to get to your room.
The larger room on the second floor was excellent - great size and fantastic bathroom. The smaller room on the first floor was also good. The fellow who was charged with giving us the keys (the next door neighbour it seems) was deligtful.

United StatesAs a 72 year old customer I must advise others of the twisting small stairs. I climbed 36 steps with a small carry on: not easy. The home is not a hotel. There are no concierge services and I waited outside for over an hour before I received instructions on how to enter via a side alley with lockbox key. There is no restaurant and no outside patio. The house is still under construction. Once completed it will be as charming as the pictures. The owner is nice but wi-fi doesn’t work. However, it is a well designed room.
The room is very well done and of good size overlooking a lovely square.

FranceVery difficult to communicate with the owner to access the keys. Needed to find a hairdryer. Owner did not answer text or phone calls until the very last minute after multiple phone calls. Crunchy towels that had never seen a dryer, hard old pillows, no coffee maker in the room, no hairdryer. Owner said someone must’ve stolen the hairdryer but the girl who worked in the restaurant said I told the owners there was no hairdryer in the room. Person for coffee was supposed to be there at 8:30 in the morning. No one showed up till nine. Sometimes it’s a lot of little things that add up to one bad experience. Unfortunately for the owner, I will not be recommending this hotel to all my many friends who live in Vance, who have out-of-town guests frequently. If you just made a couple tweaks to your property. It could be great Below average. Also you told me check-in time 5 PM is normal no it is not. I’ve stayed at many hotels this year 3 - 4 PM is normal check in time.
Great location, double pane, windows for quiet, good heater/air conditioner.
