Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

RomaniaBeautiful facilities with a wonderful remake from the initial prison building: prison theme was kept and integrated very nicely into the modern days and style. All staff was very nice and helpful including reception and restaurant.

NetherlandsDesign of the shower is such that it leaks and floods the bathroom. Our window faced a small courtyard where people tend to hang till 2AM in the weekends. It’s not necessarily loud that you can’t sleep but it might be annoying to some. Finding parking near the entrance might be a challenge. It’s free on the weekends but there’s not much space. Alternatively, you can park either near “Les Halles 1” (underground and paid) or park “parking du pont-vieux” what would be a small hike (but free).
Superb location, nicely furnished room. Good breakfast. Spacious bathroom. Room itself is on a smaller size, but that’s expected from a 19th century prison! Having said that, it’s perfectly reasonable for two with a decent amount of luggage. Plenty of art around the place. Great value for the money!

United KingdomThe gym was very very basic and small. The breakfast was very expensive for basically a cold buffet, pastries very disappointing, scrambled eggs and bacon dreadful - cold and inedible
The history of the property is fantastic and the location could not be better. The room was comfortable but I was slightly disappointed it wasn’t a cell although I think they are smaller rooms .

United KingdomNothing. It's a great hotel. Highly recommended.
The hotel is in the perfect location for Beziers. My room was enormous, the Superior Double Room. The air-conditioning worked well. The "Very good breakfast" did not live up to the "very good" billing. "Acceptable" is probably nearer the mark. I would recommend trying one of the many cafés in the city centre for breakfast if you want more variety.

United States of AmericaIt really was like staying in an old prison cell. The restaurant was good, but not great, and the restaurant staff were unfriendly to the point of rude.
The vibe of staying in an old prison was fun, but the hotel was rather pretentious for what it was. The views were spectacular, and the convenience of taking elevators down to the Pont Vieux was great.

United KingdomAs a Speciality Coffee Roaster I always have low expectations in hotel catering environments, especially when visiting France. (sorry!) Whilst a Nespresso machine is very convenient, it's lacking in flavour and provenance. You should look into supporting a local roaster.
Excellent choice including local products, such as honey, great with yogurt. Fantastic location, beautifully designed around the old prison roof with excellent views of the old city. Even the tea was good!

United States of AmericaFabulous New Hotel — Family room sleeps 4-5 and sitting area is charming , for a Prison. We loved our accommodations, the historic ambiance and delicious breakfast. Situated right beside the Beziers’ Cathedral, it was an ideal hotel choice.

United KingdomDifficult to approach by car, as there is nowhere to park. Theoretically you are allowed to drive onto the plateau in front of the hotel to unload your bags, but if vehicles are parked in the handicapped bays, access is obstructed. So you have to park illegally for a few moments to unload, and then find the public car park which is around 10 minutes walk uphill to the hotel, but 5 minutes downhill in the morning.
Very quiet room, although it wasn't immediately obvious how everything worked (lights, air conditioning) and I had to ask the receptionist. Wonderful restaurant with panoramic view of the Pyrenees, unfortunately booked up for the night I was there (but there's a lively cellar restaurant opposite the hotel).

ItalyAbsolutely no complaints.
The location and view were both fantastic. Wonderful bed and linen. Rooms were clean and large and the bathroom was wonderful. We didn’t have the buffet but it looked nice. I would buy a room as a studio apartment if possible . Nothing but praise… Im not British but NO KETTLE…really this is your usual complaint about this place. Bring one with you on holiday, we bring a fan in case rooms are hot…

United KingdomSome more history & background to the history of the prison would have been interesting. The prison was on top of a big hill so if you arrive by train get a taxi - don’t walk.

United KingdomThere was nothing we disliked .
We loved how the building had been renovated and enjoyed the quirky art work in the hotel . You still had the feeling of it being a prison but obviously had a lot more comfort . The beds are particularly comfortable and the room we had was spotless . The location is fantastic and offers great views and there are restaurants nearby if you don’t want to eat dinner in the restaurant ( we didn’t due to daughter’s food intolerances ) . We did really enjoy breakfast buffet in the restaurant. The food we had was of excellent quality . If we were in the area again we would definitely stay again . Sadly this time it was just a short trip .
