Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyTwo things that didn't affect my stay, but might be good to know (my previous speakers already mentioned it): the spiral staircase to the apartment ist really tight and high, and, due to it's location above some bars, it's quite loud until around midnight (which is fine with windows closed).
I really enjoyed my stay in this beautiful apartment! It takes around 10-15 minutes to walk from the train station and is situated within the heart of the old town with lots of cafés, bars, restaurants and boutiques around. I liked the special layout of the apartment with a stair inside of it, leading to its small terrace, giving you a nice view over the roofs, but also some sunny privacy. The kitchen is well equipped and the host was very friendly, checking up whether I'd need something.

AustraliaNothing we didn’t like!
This apartment in the heart of Montpellier was perfect for a short stay (we did 2 nights, but would’ve been comfortable for longer). Check in instructions and communication from Serge was easy and clear. The room was very clean and had everything we needed. The rooftop terrace was amazing! Perfect for an evening drink. The narrow spiral staircase felt like an adventure, and added to the charm and authenticity of the building.

AustraliaThe stairs are a struggle with luggage. Not recommended for people who can't handle narrow spiral stairs.

United Kingdomslightly disappointed on arrival that the apartment was a bit dirty. there was rubbish in the bins and the sinks needed a clean. Plus, I’m not convinced the bed sheets were clean either. no clean towels etc etc. the stairs need a pre-warning for those with luggage as well. it was cleaned spotlessly however on my second day. someone obviously came by the following day so can’t fault them for that.
great location and it was equipped with all the essentials needed. the terrace is the best feature and was a win with guests and when they came over. I’d happily stay again!

AlbaniaBeing centric near bars & restaurants its true that it was noisy but we liked because it was vivid and the sound isolation of the windows worked. The access in the building with big luggages might have been difficult due to narrow helicoidal stairs but for backpacks no problem.
The flat was super clean and comfortable just like the pictures, the sofa bed was well equipped and comfortable. The terrace was a gem for the afternoons. Kitchen was equipped with all the basic stuff one might need. The location super centric near a plaza full of nice bars & restaurants and easy to get to touristic points. Important thing for this that the windows had a good sound isolation.

Czech Republic- quite a squeaky bed (and the floor) - single use shampoo bottles and no recycling - hard to keep the place warm even with the heating on
We overall enjoyed staying at the studio. It was easy to to find and the host was responsive and super helpful! I would recommend this place to anyone for a short gateway and especially to those who enjoy staying right in the middle of the historic city centre. - very clean - unbeatable location right in the city centre with many bars and restaurants right outside of the building - offers everything you need for a short stay - warm blanket keeps you warm in winter months - cute private terrace with a beautiful view of the historic neighborhood - clear and easy communication with the host

SwitzerlandThe church with its church bell ringing is next to the building, and pretty loud. The staircase is very steep.

Czech RepublicPeople are mentioning the noise from the street, but for us it was nothing serious (visit in November 2021). Reasonable cost for living in the heart of the city :-)
