Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaI stayed at this hotel for 4 nights 2 years ago and was really looking forward to staying again. Loved the concept and the location. My room the first night was very disappointing (Room 16). It had stairs from the door and bathroom to the sleeping area. There was only a small window above eye level. Room faced the busy square and was very noisy even with the windows closed. The front desk staff were very accommodating and moved me to a quieter room when one was available. I really appreciated that!
Excellent location. Close to the old town. Easy transportation connections. Many restaurants, cafes and bars nearby.

PortugalThe rooms are comfortable, but the beds are a little small and the space in the room could be better utilized. Little variety of breakfast option. It would be great if there was more options, like sweets or hot food.
I stayed at this hotel for two nights. The location is great, close to many tourist attractions and public transport. Easy to reach many iconic sites on foot. The staff was very friendly and always helpful. The hotel's atmosphere is very cool, like a trip back in time, and even the rooms follow this pattern. The rooms have the same theme as the entire hotel and were comfortable. Good breakfast, with organic and good quality options. There was always good drinking water available. Very beautiful terrace. It was good to see that they take a lot of environmental care.

New ZealandGreat location in the old town. There were many restaurants, and bars nearby, and it was close to a bus stop, which made for easy access. We did not have breakfast but chose instead to have something at nearby café. No fridge in the room, but we were able to store some things in the hotels fridge. We would happily have stayed longer than one night.

United StatesOverall it was great. Only downside is that some of the furniture was not comfortable. The parking area is very tight and may be difficult for people who don't have experience maneuvering cars in small spaces.
The room was a great value for the price in an excellent location. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was larger than I thought it would be. The decor was very funny because the hotel really committed to the college dormitory theme, and that meant some of the furniture was not so comfortable, but for a short stay it was fine.

United StatesUnfortunately, the shower situation was not the best as there was no barrier between the shower area and the rest of the bathroom. This meant that a shower would get the entire bathroom floor wet and it would be unsafe to walk around in. We had to use towels to dry off the floor in order to use the bathroom afterwards. Even a small barrier would make a big difference and would have made the stay perfect. Regardless, I still highly recommend this hotel.
The location of this hotel was perfect in the heart of old town Lyon. There were many restaurants around the hotel to enjoy, and it was very easy to get to the metro/train from the hotel. The staff were amazing and very helpful when asked questions. They also allowed us to store our bags when our train was delayed which gave us a chance to explore more of the city.

United StatesThe school theme is cool but I don’t love all the black and white pictures of children. It’s a little eerie for my taste. But that’s more of an opinion and didn’t take away from the comfort of the hotel and the service.
It was an amazing location and the beds were really comfortable. It was clean!

United StatesOne reason hotel was chosen was because it was supposed to be air conditioned. When we arrived and reported room was very hot we were told that air conditioning wasn’t turned on until the summer. We tried to sleep with doors opened, listening to bar noise from street!
Convenient location for bus transportation. Breakfast was good. Staff was excellent.

CanadaThe life-size photos of children on the bedroom doors, keys and in the elevator were very strange in 2024, with concerns over how some children were treated in the past. The references to a school were otherwise fun ,but these photos could be triggering for some. I would strongly advise doing away with the photos. The girl on our key looked very sad.
Breakfast was very disorganized, running out of eggs, or scrambled eggs were cold, pancakes . Bread was very nice.

United StatesBecause it is close to Old Town, it was very noisy late at night with drunken people. It would have been better to have a bigger bed. The rooms were small. Also, the breakfast was a very high price for what you got.
We liked the location, the hotel decorations and the bar on the terrace.

AustraliaFriendly, welcoming hotel, well located in Vieux Lyon. Friendly, helpful staff. Reasonably spacious room. Comfortable bed. Clean, and with a good sized bathroom. The hotel decor has a school-focussed theme, consistent with its history. It has a large terrace, great for a drink in the sun on a fine afternoon. There are good restaurants close by, in Vieux Lyon and just across the river.

MaltaIn the morning during the checkout process, there were workers sanding the wooden floor in reception. I thought that would be something that should be done at night for people are not using the reception area to check out, etc. it wasn’t too disturbing but it was just odd that the timing was in the morning.
The hotel was very quaint and met all of my needs during my one night stay in Lyon. The breakfast was very pleasant and cost €15. Hotel used to be a school so it has a bit of a design related around college kids but very pleasant overall very satisfied highly recommend.
