Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesSpending time at Chateau Masburel was spending the most luxurious holiday of a lifetime! The ambience of the chateau was rich with beautifully comfortable antique furnishings, large, bright windows, sparkling chandeliers, and golden-glowing candles! The breakfasts contained a variety of fresh fruits, vegetables, and a charcuterie of delights: meats, cheeses, including French bread, rolls, and croissants! The coffee was superb each morning from a fabulous Gaggia coffee maker! The surrounding area outside the chateau was so beautifully landscaped with acres of vineyards beyond. The nights were perfectly quiet for sleeping, and mornings with birds singing in the distance. The bedrooms were perfectly gorgeous and bathrooms so modern, clean, and accommodating! Come visit this fairyland for your future retreat or vacation!

Chateau Masburel a working wine farm since 1740, elegantly restored by Chris & Irma. We loved everything about our stay. The room has a view over the courtyard, where we enjoyed a lovely breakfast every morning. Very friendly hosts. They made us feel welcome. We had a free cellar tour and wine tasting!

United KingdomThere wasn’t anything that we didn’t like.
The breakfast was lovely as you had a variety of food to choose from. We don’t like a cooked breakfast, so what was provided was ideal for us. The bedroom was lovely and the bed was very comfortable. Irma and Chris the hosts, were so nice and they made our stay very enjoyable.

PolandFabulous place! An original French stone „chateau” located in the Bergerac wine region. Authentic, beautifully renovated furniture in bedrooms and in the living room; modern bathrooms. Everything to the highest standard and impeccably clean. The hosts very kind and helpful. Breakfast served in a large garden overlooking vineyards. And last but not least: wine from the hosts’ own vinyards. We recommend Chateau Masburel to anyone who loves outstanding places, peace, quiet and wine.

United KingdomAbsolutely nothing!
The Château Masburel was exceptional in every way, beautiful ambience with spectacular Vineyard and French countryside views. Our bedroom was spotlessly clean, superbly decorated, comfy bed with opulent, accessible rooms to relax in if needed. The breakfast had a range of choice with quality, fresh produce. The ‘piece de resistance’ was being able to take our trays outside to eat in the peaceful garden with no rush. Perfect! Chris and Irma were the consummate hosts, welcoming, attentive, knowledgeable about the area without being intrusive. Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you Chris and Irma for the most enjoyable, relaxing stay. It was simply, the best ever.

A lovely chateau in the heart of the Dordogne wine region. Surrounded by Chris's own vineyard; he gave us a tour and wine tasting. Friendly and engaging couple who run it. Only a few rooms despite the size of the place so quite intimate. Clean, comfortable, well equipped. Good help-yourself breakfast from a small kitchen enjoyed outside at a communal table with other guests. Parking on site. Lovely place to relax in the sunshine. Small but good choice of restaurants in nearby St. Foy (10 minutes). Nice wines; bought some to take home.

Where to start? It’s absolutely immaculate, beyond 5* quality rooms and service. Amazing breakfast, great tour of the wine making facility too. If this was in the UK it’d be three times the price. we loved it.

FinlandThere was nothing we did not like. Electric car charger would have been a nice bonus and a possibility for a dinner, but there are restaurants in the area.
We are on a road trip from Finland to Spain and bumped into this place by accident. Really amazing place. They have renovated the chateau to a beautiful and tranquil place to stay. The room have so calm and the bed was great. We had the best sleep ever. Breakfast was really high quality. The best stay on our trip by far.

NetherlandsNothing - I just regret we only stayed for just three days.
Beautiful chateau, very well taken care off, tight in between the vineyards. Very relaxing and enjoyable. Ideal location for touring into both the Dordogne and Bordeaux area. The owners are great people that take all the time to make sure you are enjoying the stay. And the wine tour at the chateau - and the wine tasting of course - add to the great experience.

FranceNo reflection on the property, but St Foy Le Grande, the nearest town, has all restaurants except 1 closed Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday, at the moment. So if you are going, please check if there are restaurants open for all nights of your stay. Its pretty dead this time of year (March).
Great location, beautiful building, plus our host allowed us to bring a small dinner and eat it in the dining room, as all local restaurants were shut.

The property is tastefully restored with period furniture and a very comfortable ambience. There is seating both inside and out for guests and because the weather was good nearly all of our breakfasts were taken outside. The surrounding grounds were extensive and beautiful to explore. it is a working vineyard and a tour of the winery is a must along with tasting of some very good quality wines.
