Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaThe Chateau is quite cold during the day in May. Need to wear layers to feel warm inside.
Alice and Sebastien were the perfect hosts. Breakfast was fresh baguettes and croissants straight from the oven - a fantastic French experience! The option to have champagne on arrival was special for our honeymoon. Very spacious with a room, bathroom and parlour in the Royal Suite. A short drive to many quaint towns and various lunch and dinner options.

The evening meal and breakfast were both very good and an excellent compliment to the quality of the Chateau and its history including the refurbishment and development of the property undertaken by the owners Donna & Paul. The Napolean bedroom allocated was well decorated including artifacts and extremely comfortable. It was typical of the owners attention to detail in maintaining the unique character of the Chateau. A must on future visits to the area.

United KingdomThere was nothing to dislike
Although only a brief visit our hosts were great and very welcoming into their fantastic home. Our room, The Stables, was great with plenty of space. We will definitely go back there again, hopefully for longer next time

United KingdomNothing. It was 41 degrees when we arrived and I was very concerned that the Chateau would be too hot - it actually stayed very cool. Must be the thickness of the walls! I did use a fan during the night, and it was fine.
Stayed here for 2 nights in the Napoleon Room on the way to a family holiday, then a night in The Stables on the way back. Both were very well equipped and comfortable, with great attention to detail. The Napoleon Room was very grand, decorated on dark blue and gold. The Stables was more of a gite, with a kitchenette, sofa and TV. Donna and Paul were great hosts, and nothing was too much trouble. They are still working on other areas of the Chateau, and there is a lake that will provide stunning views once it is sorted.

FranceOur room was a bit hot on 2 nights out of the week we stayed, due to the weather but a fan was provided which was good. Other nights it was fine.
Super friendly owners made our stay very comfortable. Beautiful chateau being renovated and finished rooms are lovely. Breakfast great and our room had a small kitchen which is good for a longer stay. Tea room attached which was fabulous for a yummy Sunday roast lunch. Dinners also available for guests. Nice garden to walk in and a small pool for cooling off. So quiet at night. Only 7 min drive to town and 20 min to Niort. We intend to return to try out all the gorgeous signature rooms. Lovely holiday and many things to see in the area if you like exploring small villages and less touristy attractions.

United KingdomAfter watching the TV programme and as we had our main stay near we were looking forward to staying at the chateau Sauge as a treat. The whole experience was very disappointing. The grounds needed mowing and weeding. The apartment was poorly equipped and we discovered a pan had not been cleaned from a previous guest. The television and microwave were streaky and very thick dust covered the wooden floor especially under the bed. The minute basin in the shower room was not fit for purpose. We discovered disappointingly before we visited that the tearoom was no more but yet it still appears on a large advertising canopy at the entrance to the chateau. In our opinion it was very poor value for money.
Good parking and comfortable bed.
