Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsMaybe it could be an idea for future guests, that the signposting to find the accommodation can be improved. You could get the idea, that you arrived at the wrong address.
Very nice Location. The location is wonderful and quiet. The building is special and adjacent to Château d’Argeronne On arrival we were a little puzzled as we couldn't find signs to find the place. Once we arrived the hospitable landlady told us some history about the Chateau and the place where we had our room as this was originally built as a carriage house with beautiful woodwork. As it was beautiful weather we spent some time in the garden enjoying the view and reading a book in a very quiet and relaxing atmosphere. The breakfast was continental style with home made jam served with baquette / croissants and Brioche bread all more than enough and just fine.

United KingdomThe only criticism was that the shower base was very slippy and possibly needs a mat. Other than that the bathroom was good and tasteful.
The decor was smart but comfy. Breakfast was good and served in a relaxing atmosphere. Madame Martin was helpful and informative. The location was peaceful and the grounds were well tended. We had a room with the view of Château d’Argeronne, which was splendid.

FranceWonderful old building with beautiful woodwork and furniture. Welcome good, room large, warm and comfortable, plenty of hot water. Some guests arrived very late (which was not the hotel's fault) but the old staircase creaked when they went up them and the noise disturbed us. Good continental breakfast, Great stay for couples.

United KingdomWe were not given the room that we booked. They decided to give us a differnt room without either consulting or informing us. When I protested they offered to book us into another hotel. They had received a wedding booking after ours and thoight the noise would be bad in the room we were supposed to have. They said the new room was of the same standard but when I asked, they would not even let me see the room. This is not on.

IsraelNo sigens to the place. Luckily we found someone to ask for direction. Not clean enough. Breakfast was o.k. but not enough products for the number of guests.
The view and surrounding are very nice. Big rooms and comfortable beds.

AustraliaWe booked a deluxe room with a chateau view but we’re given a smaller room with a ‘garden’ view. The ‘garden’ consisted of a collection of tired outdoor furniture and a pile of rubbish leading onto an unkempt field. According to the booking.com site there is a coffee shop on site. There isn’t! In fact with no refrigerator or kettle , either in the rooms, or available to guests there is nothing to drink except warm water. The nearest restaurant is over 30 minutes away. Dogs and cats roam through the accommodation block. You can’t open the windows without the potential of a visiting tom cat. No screens on the windows either, and with no a/c the rooms would be like ovens in summer. The women who apparently manages the place needs to learn some customer relations skills. Even a smile would help, rather than the surly, unfriendly ‘welcome’ that we received. To top all of that off, we were charged twice for the room and the onus is on the guest to try and recover their funds from booking.com. Avoid this place at all costs (and hope that booking.com will reimburse you too)!
A great view of the deserted chateau from the accommodation block. It is not a hotel or even a guest house, just a group of rooms that supply breakfast. The rooms are good and the bathroom too, but that’s where it stops.
